I need some assistance from u guys here since i'm using an oem drive I might not be able to get FW updates from my ST31000340AS.
So i would appreciate it if anyone with the updated fw from seagate for the above model could send me a copy of the firmware .

Great to know that Seagate admitted to that, too bad for me as I ady lost mine with tons of data. I have just followed the instructions and requested for the firmware, lets see the response..

cant detect my hdd to check the serial.
why ar..
but i can access the data..
just cant check the serial no..
have to open the casing..

the US fellas on the seagate forum already called the 1-800 tech support number last 2days, no firmware yet..

lucky not yet purchase new harddisk if not sure will need to buy an extra new harddisk for this. thank you for the info

but now Seagate is only 3years waranty rite? better stick to the cheaper WD for new purchases until the smoke clears.. biggrin.gif
