Serious questions:
- How often do you visit the library (public or education institution)?
>The last time I went to a public library, I was 4 or 5. I did hang out in the Universiti Malaya library quite often when I was studying there.

- What were your usual reason to go to the library? (read? do homework? PC? sleep? dating? work? etc)
>Never to do homework. Mostly to read the Journals, Magazines, Newspaper etc. Plus, it was air-conditioned.

- Do you read books in the library to study or do you read them because you are interested in those books?
>In 3 years, I finished at least half of UM's fiction section, but barely used the reference books, preferring online sources and journals. Still, sometimes I just had to depend on the reference because I couldn't find the information elsewhere.

- Have you ever visit our National Library?
>No. Wanted to many times, but its quite out of the way if you ask me.

- In your opinion, what is missing in majority of Malaysian libraries?
>Can't really say. Haven't been to enough to give you an opinion.

Non-serious question:
- Have you ever borrowed a book from a library?
>Of course lar.

- Do you have a library card in your wallet/purse now?
>Nope.

- Do you still have a library book that you forgot to return long ago?
>Once, when I was young, I accidentally returned a book, while still managing to hold on to the books card. I've never failed to return a book, but I failed at returning the card. Cool eh?

- Ever got locked in a library?
>No, but I was once locked in my school's Biology lab.

- Ever got kicked out of a library?
>Nope.

- How often do you visit the library (public or education institution)?
Daily during education days. Now... rare.

- What were your usual reason to go to the library? (read? do homework? PC? sleep? dating? work? etc)
Was a librarian back in high school, but I love readings novels and encyclopedias. Uni library has a lot of interesting research materials.

- Do you read books in the library to study or do you read them because you are interested in those books?
Both

- Have you ever visit our National Library?
Yeap

- In your opinion, what is missing in majority of Malaysian libraries?
A good variety of properly maintained & latest books. The catalog system is also pretty messy.

Non-serious question:
- Have you ever borrowed a book from a library?
Of course!

- Do you have a library card in your wallet/purse now?
I still have my National Library & uni library card XD

- Do you still have a library book that you forgot to return long ago?
There's one I think. Somewhere among the mast of books on my booshelves *sorry library!*

- Ever got locked in a library?
Nope

- Ever got kicked out of a library?
Yeap, when I was engrossed reading some interesting encyclopedias.

Serious questions:
- How often do you visit the library (public or education institution)?
2 times per month? If transportation isn't a problem, I might go every day.

- What were your usual reason to go to the library? (read? do homework? PC? sleep? dating? work? etc)
Read

- Do you read books in the library to study or do you read them because you are interested in those books?

I don't study in the library.

- Have you ever visit our National Library?
Yes.

- In your opinion, what is missing in majority of Malaysian libraries?
A LOT. The PJ library has a very poor ventilation system and I'll get headaches if I sit there for too long. They should open the windows and let the fresh air in. Maybe it's just me because others can sit and read with no problems.

While the national library, yes, it's big but the books are not for loan. You go to the small building behind if you want to borrow books. The number of fiction books is unimpressive.

Compared with libraries of other countries, we're, er...

Non-serious question:

- Do you have a library card in your wallet/purse now?

- Do you still have a library book that you forgot to return long ago?
Yes, books from my primary school library.
- Ever got locked in a library?
No

Serious questions:
- How often do you visit the library (public or education institution)?
Nowadays, not anymore. It used to be everyday or once a week(public)

- What were your usual reason to go to the library? (read? do homework? PC? sleep? dating? work? etc)
To borrow books and be in cool surrounding.

- Do you read books in the library to study or do you read them because you are interested in those books?
Because I'm interested in it.
- Have you ever visit our National Library?
Never, it's quite inaccessible.I used to live in Malacca. Nowadays, it's just seem weird I'm going there.

- In your opinion, what is missing in majority of Malaysian libraries?
Good books. They tend to be too serious and not following current readership(observation from 5 years ago)

Non-serious question:
- Have you ever borrowed a book from a library?
Of course, twice a day in fact.

- Do you have a library card in your wallet/purse now?
Not anymore. But planning to renew membership to get my nieces to go with me.

- Do you still have a library book that you forgot to return long ago?
Yeah, some of it intentionally forgotten.

- Ever got locked in a library?
Nope, I got the keys.I'm the librarian.

- Ever got kicked out of a library?
Nope, but I've kicked out people before. Too noisy and disrespectful of others. It's fine if you don't want to read a book but to a point of laughing and giggling with others more than a few times. Totally not forgivable.

Back in those days, I remembered of a mobile library (perpustakaan bergerak) going here and there.

Though it was small, it was fun back then to get inside those trailers filled with books thumbup.gif

Yes. I remember those as well... But they STINK!!! Yucky, stuffy smell...!!!

Added on February 18, 2009, 9:50 amSerious questions:
- How often do you visit the library (public or education institution)?
Once a week... I'm doing my masters. Oh yeah, does visiting the library's online digital collection count as "visiting"???

- What were your usual reason to go to the library? (read? do homework? PC? sleep? dating? work? etc)
Homework, research, borrow books

- Do you read books in the library to study or do you read them because you are interested in those books?
I go mostly to do work, but when I get there, I tend to get sidetracked and read stuff/books I'm not supposed to. Like the other day, I was sourcing for "learning theories" at the library and spent about 1 hour reading a book about Sony SoundForge instead!

- Have you ever visit our National Library?
Yes, in my younger days I even joined their theatre/kid club.

- In your opinion, what is missing in majority of Malaysian libraries?
People. Cos people nowadays seem adamant not to read.

Non-serious question:
- Have you ever borrowed a book from a library?
Yes.

- Do you have a library card in your wallet/purse now?
My work pass doubles as a library card. Does that count??

- Do you still have a library book that you forgot to return long ago?
Yes... I still have some unreturned books on my table right now...

- Ever got locked in a library?
No. I locked myself in once when I was in highschool - I was a librarian, and it was one of those days. tongue.gif

- Ever got kicked out of a library?
No. I'd get the odd stare once in a while cos I'll always be the one who forgets to silent her handphone and library patrons all over KL are apparently very much disturbed by my ringtone choice of Bjork's Human Behaviour. Go figure.
