To make things short, my most memorable reads like millions would be LOTR, years before it became mainstream and got me off sci-fi .

Another would be Raymond E.F's Magician.. ahh Pug, i rate him higher than Merlin!! Not sure if anyone mentioned it, apart from Magician i prefered Empire trilogy over his riftwars. Both i love though. My most favourite heroine Mara of the Acoma. Talk about feminism
