Count me in as a new owner of the C905! I bought it yesterday in Singapore from one of their original vendors. The total came to RM2,100, due to the fact that I bought a 4GB memory card, a screen protector, an extra battery, and a desktop charger. Mine's the black one, by the way.

I haven't used it extensively yet, but so far from what I've used it for (messaging and adding contacts), it's quite a joy to use. It feels sturdy and durable.

But alas, sending animations in messages does indeed make the resulting message an MMS. doh.gif

Some of my shots using the C905. Not much editing has been done, save for resizing and sharpening.

Just to share: When I went to buy my C905 in Singapore, the man told me that the white one cost about S$30 more than the black one. No reason was given.

There is no price difference here for the black and silver C905. Feature wise also no difference also. The shop trying to sell the silver (not white) as limited edition or something for more money.

Oops, my bad.

I think you hit the nail on the head ... It certainly struck me as odd. I remembered asking the sales assistant why, and he gave no definitive answer. Not to mention that the silver one was heavily advertised all over the shop, and there was no mention of the black one at all. Most peculiar. I didn't buy mine from that particular store, however: the black ones were all out of stock.

This phone is driving me nuts! First, I had to send it to the service centre a month ago because the "3" and "6" keys were becoming less sensitive and harder to press.

Once I got it back a week later, the earpiece failed - whenever I made a call, there would be no sound at all on the other end. So I sent it for repair again.

I just got it back last Saturday, and guess what? The battery life's suddenly become awful, going flat in a mere couple of hours! I thought it was a problem with the battery itself, so I replaced it with a spare battery I'd bought together with the phone. But nope, it died too in a few hours after a full charge.

I'm sending it to the service centre again this week. Argh! *headdesks*

After finding some time off last week to visit the service centre regarding my battery problem, I got it back today. The whole motherboard's been replaced, "so it's like a new phone", according to the officer who'd handled my collection.

Um.

Nope.

When I got home, I turned it on in the evening (around 5:30 PM) as I was busy with other things. Now? The battery's gone down by more than half, and all I've done is just send a couple of messages and add some contacts.

I've emailed Sony Ericsson to see if I can get them to exchange my phone for a new unit because this constant back-and-forth between my home and the service centre (which is at Orchard, Singapore since I'd bought it there) is getting on my nerves. Gah! rclxub.gif

It's seriously spent more time at the service centre than in my hands since I'd bought it in late January.

From what I've realized, the phone's battery depletes rather quickly after the 1st charge. What was the battery % when you first turned it on? Give the phone a day or two, probably they've replaced your batteries to a new one. New batteries do have the tendency to get dry after several hours of normal usage. On a side note, I personally think C905's battery couldn't last very long even after several charges.  shakehead.gif

It was 100% when I'd turned it on. One thing to note is that the back of the screen, when you slide it up, is very warm. I'll try giving it a full eight-hour charge tomorrow, see if it persists. (But I guess if they did give me a new battery, they'd have told me, right? sad.gif)

So they've fully charged before returning it back to you, I've initially thought it wasn't tongue.gif Warm? Haven't really ventured into touching that area during heavy usage. But on normal usage (on 60% brightness) it's rather cold. Normally the back of my battery cover is warm if I utilize GPS applications, or during charging. Were there any applications running in the background?

And have you turned off the 3G detecting function? If you're not using 3G then it's wise to turn that function off, by going into Settings > Connectivity > Mobile networks > GSM/3G networks. Then select GSM only.

On a side note,  I think the back of the slider shouldn't  be warm at all. I'll try running under 100% brightness today and see how things turn up if I leave the screen light on upon extended period of time.

I'll try that (selecting "GSM only"), see if it makes a difference.

I'd charged it last night around 11:30 PM and turned off the charger twelve hours later. Without touching it all, the battery went flat ... five hours later.

I think the warmness could be caused by them replacing the earpiece and putting in a "spacer" as well to prevent the whole "not hearing the other party when making a call" problem that I had a month ago. This whole mess started after that happened, so it could be linked.

I'm going to call Sony Ericsson tomorrow and ask if they allow for exchanges. This has gone on for far too long! shakehead.gif

ETA: I went to see if my GPS was enabled, and it was, so I've turned it off. Hopefully this helps as well.

Despite turning off 3G and GPS, the battery died last night in about five hours as well.

I just called Sony Ericsson Singapore (since that's where I bought it from), and they said (more or less), "We don't have a one-to-one exchange policy per se, but we might make exceptions for special cases. You could speak to the manager [at the service centre] and try."

Words ... fail me. shocking.gif
