My friend got a scholarship offer to do Masters from them. But she said will need to be bonded to them after she finishes.
So she's asking me to find out how is it like over there, so that she can decide whether or not to take up the scholarship and be bonded to them.
Cos she's a "C" race and worried that there might not be good chances for progression in her career later, if bonded to Khazanah.

Khazanah subsidiary company's staff will enjoy the same benefits as working for Khazanah itself?
If bonded to Khazanah, does it mean will work for Khazanah or the subsidiary companies? Hmm....

Khazanah is definitely a GLC company.... When you mention GLC, it means is protected by gov.. and it means your are safe working at there... Any gov contracts will be given priority to GLC company...

I worked at Khazanah (Risk Management). Do not join khazanah. Too much politics inside. Benefits is superb but is that what you are looking for?. After 5 years working and waiting for the promotion, somehow someone son of the Dato' came in on top and I lost the opportunity. Can you imagine how I felt when efforts and hardwork has been poured into?

Well thats life. I looking for the better job!

You could always ask the person who called/emailed you to arrange for your interview on what to expect.
Did you apply through the website email? If you have contacts inside already, they can definitely help a lot.

In any case, to interview for Investments, you should refresh your technical skills; all financial stuff learned in university would be helpful.

As a side note, eat 1 or 2 bananas before you go in for the interview, since it will be quite a long session; half a day takes up quite a lot of energy. Eating nasi lemak would probably make you too sleepy for the test and interviews though, that's why I recommend bananas.

All the best!

You've asked this question in another post where RM4.6k was mentioned, from what I know it's north of that figure, based on a combination of years worked, relevance of work to the department applied for and of course, interview performance.

I wouldn't worry about the salary at this stage, you haven't even gone for the 1st interview!
Just know that their salary offer will beat any offer from about 95% of what local companies are able to offer you.
Ok I'm just making up the percentage, but it is high when compared to local companies.

Focus on the technical aspects of valuations, i.e. NPV, IRR, WACC, DCF
If you don't know what they stand for, I THINK it's not too late to learn before your interview; however the tests might be quite stressful for you then.
There's also a report writing part, nothing fancy.

The 3 interviews subsequent to the test - well, speak English clearly and confidently, explain yourself and sell yourself well, technical competence and commercial awareness will help too for this part.

What I did was to read the website and spun a story according to my strengths.

A bit long winded I apologize, but I think investing 8 hours or so of your time to prepare well for the interview can only benefit you.
Don't think they are looking for slackers, which will show from your work / answers during Stage 1.

If nervous then practice your sales pitch infront of a mirror.

Btw on other pointers, wear a suit.

Have you gone for the interviews in KNB before?
I don't know what role / dept you're looking at, but just to share, I interviewed for a role within Investments, and I wore my suit to each and every round of the interviews, save for the lunch interview with the outsourced firm. Still brought it along though, since the interview with KNB was after the (free) lunch.

Rule of thumb is that it's better to be over-dressed rather than under-dressed.

Good luck!

this is for associate? avp? vp?

if you are meeting ED of Inv, then after that should be Tan Sri MD or (TMD). if you gone this far, this should be good because you've passed quite a few rounds.

You probably know and are clear of what you are getting yourself into.

After meeting up with Ganen, then you'll be receiving a call from HR to discuss / hear about the offer.
If you accept then the next and last formality is to meet the MD in a group setting.

The 1st round consisting of the 2.5hrs financial modelling test + report writing and 3 interviews is the only key round I would think, the rest are definitely a LOT easier.

Good luck with the offer.

4 interviews? in 4 separate days? Not to mention the rigour of interviews, how did you take leaves to attend them?

Congratz man! your qualification must be awesome to be selected by Khazanah. Just curious how many years of relevant experience you have?

The financial test + 3 separate interviews were done in 1 day .. the interview with outsource firm is on another day (at Starbucks) ...
Indeed, the test was challenging ..

My background is 4 years in private equity / venture capital ..

Khazanah is NOT GLC lar. GLC means Government Linked Companies. Khazanah is the investment arm of MoF so its not linked to government, it is the gov. So maybe can consider kakitangan kerajaan

You can find definition of GLC and GLIC here .... Khazanah is GLIC - government linked investment companies

If you're a fresh grad .. then most likely you need to have first class CGPA at least.
But if you're experienced .. the CGPA matter less. Work experience is more important.

I'm trying my luck la. If get, confirm don't want to leave. Good prospect. I'm sick of working under Chinaman management.

After you guys sit for the 2 hours test then only talk. If you didn't make it on the test, just forget it. However, if you knew someone inside out, then....easy breeze.

Anyway, you still have to sit for 2 or 3 face-to-face interviews before being offered a job.

Thanks to all of you for the guidance and tips. Just collected my LO yesterday. The meeting with Tan Sri MD together with the Directors was very pleasant.

All the best to all of you.

Btw on other pointers, wear a suit.
The candidate after me wore one as well, ,my 3 interviewers too.

Hi nomad, thanks for your advice. It helped me a lot.

Apparently, i did not succeed to the next level of interview. Everything went well with the 1st and 2nd interviewer. But I had a mildly uncomfortable conversation with the 3rd interviewer as she's my boss' starbuck-buddy. She keeps asking me whether I'm not happy with my boss.

hi guys, im new here. Googled some stuff about khazanah's career opportunities and was directed here. Anyway, I'm thinking of applying to Khazanah as im interested in the investment department but from what I've read here, it seems like it isnt easy at all getting into khazanah with all the tests of your financial knowledge etc. They don't have a training program like all the banks do, do they? I'm a law graduate with no prior background in finance, but I have an interest in it. Any advice, anyone?

hi guys. recently ive taken an interest in khazanah. I am an ACCA affiliate, now taking CIMA. Also working in Big4. I guess Khazanah is everything to do with investments, thus more of all those NRV discounting, IRR, cashflow etc.

I guess I am a bit familiar with that, but is that all to it?

I just submitted my resume online. I wonder if there are other pointers that u guys can share with me..

And hows the working hours? 9 to 5? dont care if its even 7 to 9 tho, coz audits worst! I heard salary for fresh grad is at least 4k.. dunno how true that is,. .

AVP is the level of seniority. they usually have a Job scope for you. usually its project managing. they would ask about previous experience, IT related works and project management.

Salam, Hi. Is this topic still on going? Cause i have questions i've been wanting to ask.

So I'm interested in working with Khazanah, but I'm currently a fresh graduate, with a first class degree achievement.

However, i dont know on which one should i apply. Should i straightly apply for the job position or try the KGTPS program first to be familliar on what they required as well as getting proper training from them? and oh just fyi, im from Business course.

Can someone help solving my desperate curiosity?

Thank you

1. Contract for gtp is 1 year with much better salary and benefits afaik
2. Better work exposure and chances to be absorbed as associate ( executive level) whereas sl1m can only landed u as executive assistant (non executive) at most.
3. Better quality training provided to gtp candidate.

Only looking up this thread after being away for so long as I've received PM's on this topic.
Anyway from what I've seen - the GTP-I (that's the investments track, they have others as well but even fewer positions) is very good, the structure teaches you quite a fair bit, from modelling to financial statements analysis (both not necessarily the same) to public speaking. You will build a close camaraderie with the rest of your batch, since you will be spending quite a fair bit of time together. Beyond that, better to start your career on the sellside, you learn more faster.

Also believe K is recruiting for AVP and VP positions now, have seen the (disguised) positions advertised for some time. The question you need to ask yourself is why these positions are now available.
