hi .. i just up graded my 2008 macbook 13" 2.4GHz with samsung one:

this is what i can see from the "About this mac":

Memory Slots:

ECC: Disabled

BANK 0/DIMM0:

Size: 2 GB
Type: DDR3
Speed: 1067 MHz
Status: OK
Manufacturer: 0x80CE
Part Number: 0x4D34373142353637334548312D4346382020
Serial Number: 0x446EA3FD

BANK 0/DIMM1:

Size: 2 GB
Type: DDR3
Speed: 1067 MHz
Status: OK
Manufacturer: 0x80CE
Part Number: 0x4D34373142353637334548312D4346382020
Serial Number: 0x446EA3FE

I just worry one thing, supposedly Mac recommend to use DDR3 1066 MHz, but I only come to notice that my new RAM is DDR3 1067MHz, will this cause any serious detrimental effect to the machine? because sometime I experienced so called "hang" and have to restart the mac while doing multiple task at the same time. Any advice? thanks

dont worry, the "1066" is actually 1066.6666666666... so if you round up become 1067. that's all ;p the hang could be cuz of something else. im not sure if samsung ram is stable for a mac

thanks mate .. but just dont know what is the source for the machine becoming "hang" sometimes when i am doing multiple tasking .. sad.gif

It depends what is that 'hang'. If its a total screen freeze with no way to recover other than to force OFF the computer then it could be RAM due to incompatibility or a faulty module. Guess you would have to keep changing modules until you find one that works.

thanks again david,

i guess it was a totally screen freeze ( as the picture i attached in this post ), again, may I know how to change the modules? and where is the module located?

thanks

Thanks David,

I am using Macbook 13" 2.4 GHz (2008), I still have the original 2G RAM module with me. Maybe I should try replacing them back, means downgrade from 4G to 2G, to see whether it get back the stability or not. Hope this will help. ^^

OK the original unibody 13" isn't so different from the newer MBPs. Their location is the same. You should check out ifixit.com and check their teardowns for procedures. I think the original unibody doesn't require removing the bottom panel right? Check your manual.

thanks... already looked at ifixit.com

hope this will work ... ^^

Hi David,

I have tried replacing the original 2G RAM for few days, everything seem okay. So I went back to the shop, and I got a new replacement for the 4G RAM, its not Samsung anymore, he replaced the faulty Samsung 4G RAM modules with 2x Transcend 2G modules (204P DDR3 1066 SO-DIMM). Hope this work ! smile.gif

Thanks again..

P/s: this is the data sheet for the Transcend module http://www.transcendusa.com/support/dlcent...U-2G_2840_s.pdf and the product info http://ec.transcendusa.com/product/ItemDet...D=TS256MSK64V1U
