Hi guys ,
I am in the midst of which ram should i use if i want to upgrade my current mac book pro 13 inch , despite it is current @ 4gb  by default. Since apple claimn that it is upgradeable to 8gb ram. So i would like to hear some comments or suggestion from you guys ( Mac Pros , Sifu) ? which ram should i purchase ? What type of ram ? Is that necessary to go 8gb ?
THANKS !
*
if you want to improve gaming performance, try selling ur MBP 13 and get the MBP 15 tongue.gif u'll want a better GPU

RAM upgrades doesnt help much for gaming, 4gb is a lot already for games. RAM only helps you to do more things at once, it's doesnt improve performance of any single program by much. unless, for some reason, you want to run 3/4 games at the same time, i suggest you spend ur money on something else.

probably a better mouse or bigger external display?

just upgrade my macbook white 2.26 wit 4G kingston. Now problem just come out, startup very slow... how?? ;(
*
can u specify which part of the start up is slow?
- blank grey screen
- grey screen with apple logo
- plain blue screen
- already logged in but still unresponsive
- all of the above?

Am using the 13" macbook white unibody - the late 2009. Checked on macsales... it says the 8gb OWC is compatible. I thought can go only 4gb or maybe 6gb. So... really can go 8gb?

http://bit.ly/9RR6Zf
*
if OWC say 8gb is compatible then it probably is. like my MBP 5,1..apple say max is 4gb only. but OWC claimed 6gb no problem smile.gif

just wonder if any sifus here heard of Kingmax RAM..does it good for MBP 13" 2010 model?

my MBP already got 4GB 1067mhz ddr3 RAM, can i add up more? tongue.gif
*
i'd stick with the top brands if i were you. not saying kingmax is not good lah, but the price wont differ much anyway

ur 4gb is actually a pair of 2gb sticks, n u only have two slots. u can either remove one 2gb stick n put it one 4gb stick, or remove both 2gb sticks n get a pair of 4gb sticks

hermmm... correct me if im wrong, but last time i checked that 1333MHz RAM is actually meant for those with intel i7 procs spec 620M n above only izit?? sweat.gif  so for us 13" users are there any dramatic changes in switching from 1066 to 1333Mhz RAM?? icon_question.gif

-noobies of the month-
*
if u're supposed to use 1066 but u use 1333, ur machine will just downclock it to 1066. meaning 1333 RAM will work, but no point of spending extra money for it since it'll perform just like a 1066 one.

act, what is the difference between KTA n KVR ram?
anyone can explain?
thanks.
*
i dunno what are the technical differences but if i have to guess, KTA uses better quality chips. KTA are tested for macs too, so they work perfectly. KVR is more of a gamble, they may or may not work

QUOTE(jianwei87 @ Oct 15 2010, 06:24 PM)
Multitasking. But wonder I need to buy 4GB or 4GB(x2) coz planning for future upgrading if not enough memory but single channel good?

guys.
Just now I talk to my local apple authorized reseller's boss.
he say must use apple certified ram because of watt and blablabla.
is that true?
*
that guy was spewing bull. if apple uses proprietary RAMs, they would be much much much much more expensive. certified RAM simply means they are guaranteed to work. non-certified RAMs often work anyway

How much and where you bought? Kingston?
MBP13" running on 2GB..very lag play SC2, check the default graphic setting all were set the LOWEST setting !!!  cry.gif
Im wondering 4GB is enough or not or 8GB works far more better?
I thought to perform better performance, both RAM recommend to have same capacity (MegaByte)?  hmm.gif
*
integrated GPU what.... 9400M is good but not that good

i dun think a RAM upgrade would help much
