I've read The Stand, It, Needful Things, The Green Mile, From a Buick 8, and Different Seasons (from which the story Shawshank Redemption was taken) and maybe a book or two I can't recall.
King is definitely a good writer, but his tendency to drone on and on about minor things puts me off his books. Still, he can write a heck of a chilling tale. 'It' was pure horror at its best, and I remember my 15 year old self being so scared I couldn't sleep at night. Even better though was the novella 'The Body'. A simple story about a few friends heading to see a dead body was, at it premise, nothing to be afraid about, but King managed to built up such a frightful atmosphere in the story... It wasn't the gore type horror, but rather psychological horror, and that is the scariest kind of horror if you ask me.
I've been meaning to pick up his Dark Tower series, but can't seem to get down to it.
