SUNWAY CYBER GAMES 2009
=Bringing You A Better Gaming Experience=

Dear members of the community, I know you guys have been patiently waiting for this and we thank you for being patient with us. Sunway Cyber Games 2009 Registration is officially open and you may start registering by filling in the registration form below. To make up for our lateness, we will be choosing one lucky team at random, and have their registration fee waived. Also, the defending Champion from Sunway Cyber Games 2008, which is team ESP, will also have their registration fees waived.

We, the organizing team of SCG 2009 have heard all of your opinions on the matter of the CoD4 format. We have discussed it over and came to the conclusion that a single elimination single map format is not the best competitive format regardless of whatever circumstances there may be, so for SCG 2009, it will be a double elimination single map format but in order for this format to take effect, SCG CoD4 will have to commence on the 19th and it will end on the 20th. Last but not least, we will be having a CoD4 FFA tournament by class. What this means is that we will have FFA tournament for all 3 classes which is Assault, SMG and Sniper. This is not following a 1vs1 format used in the previous Master-at-Arms tournament. 6 players an island will battle it out for the top spot and the top 2 from each island will advance to the final stage where a winner will be decided.

The prizes are to be announced at a later date.

Date : 19th and 20th December
Venue : Sunway Rock Cafe
Entry Fee : RM100 per team
Games Played In This Tournament : Call of Duty 4, Defence of the Ancients
Prizes : TBA

It has been over a year since the first Sunway Cyber Games was launched and it was a huge success thanks to the great response and turnout! Those wanting relive the memories or check out what it was like can view the posted video below. Sunway Cyber Games 2009 is about to kick off.

The format for Call of Duty 4 is as follows

Dear sir,

We are sorry to inform you that we do not have 'Steelchair 5hv1' at the moment. Although, we are willing to offer you a special rate for 'Steelchair Siberie' at only rm50 per hour of usage. It has the same features as the 5hv1 only that its cheaper because ;;;;;sync;;;;sat;;;;;on;;;;;it;;;;;;. If you would like to take up this offer, please dial 1300-13-1300

Thank You.

Are you guys rushing to finish this tournament in 1 day or are you lacking islands? Even so, if you wanna have it that way, you should at least decrease the registration fee because I think paying 100 bucks to play 1 game for certain teams is kinda overpriced.

please arrange the double elimination fixtures properly because i just thought the "lower bracket" was kinda like random placing.
And no veto for maps? +_+

<Insert disclaimer that I'm not part of ESPGL anymore, I'm flying off to Boston so I may be a little pissy, etc>

I really want to thank you guys for hosting a tournament in a time where we really do need more activity and events specifically within the promod community.

BUT like a few people have mentioned throughout the day, there have been quite a few show-stopping issues throughout the event. I mean, this definitely isn't you guys' fault, but when an event is held in part to promote a particular cyber cafe, and that cafe at times has loading speeds and performance that's so poor it puts MMU to shame (which was an educational lab, mind you) that particular objective goes right out the window.

Other things, like format, I do believe DnG could have supported you guys a little better on this. I know from experience it's hard to run a tournament. DnG definitely know from experience it's hard to run a tournament, especially the double elim format. They should at least have made sure some form of supervision/advice was in place as they put their brand name into the event.

Nevertheless, looking forward to the conclusion of the event tomorrow (today? agh look at the time)

We're only serving as a media and product sponsor on the behalf of Razer. As mentioned, it is hard to run a tournament and we believe that the organizing committee for SCG were having problems ironing things out as we're always ready to give some tips and advices in relation to the organizing aspect.

Nonetheless, we'll work on our communications more effectively in the future. Am thankful for the CoD4 community to be understanding and patient as always. smile.gif

Overall i had a good time especially with the FFA! The bulk of the Marshalls were easy going and very understanding, especially when we requested the a map be drawed again. Only a few points that i can think of to make the tournament more successful in the future.

1. Better PC/Venue

- The PC's were blatantly horrible, it would be a fair statement that most of the participants experienced some form of FPS lag, Blue screen or a freeze all together.

2. Improved Marshalling

- I personally felt that a few odd Marshalls could have put more effort into this event. At one stage there was no Marshall spectating our match, we had to play out then walk over to the counter and submit our score.

3. Improved Tournament Aspects

- The fixture was messed up, teams would face each other twice which was pointed out by Bambino to the Marshalls etc.

- Random draws of maps should be done with team leaders present if possible to avoid any confusion, and should preferably be done with a glass jar or cup, not a palm.

- Organization could have been better, especially with the timing of things, allow extra time for delays etc. Also shouldnt change the timing of events last minute.

Just my two cents, cheers to the organizers, marshalls and the players for an enjoyable two days!

Jet

Just wanna add, I hope you guys who used thumbdrives at the cafe scanned them afterwards before usage. I mean, I've seen plenty of hookers* in my life but the cafe PCs kinda take the cake in terms of viral outbreaks.
