Still using Walkman phone till now but the mp3 function got replaced by my i-pod.

Yes,it makes a difference as if it doesnt have the 3.5mm port,you only can use the ear buds they provide,unless you like to carry around a 3m long wire.

I prefer the phones that have a 3.5mm port like Nokia phones.SE phones dont have one and it's kinda inconvenient for me.

Besides,if you use a SE Walkman phone,i think i can guarantee your handsfree will be damaged in 2 year's time.My W550i's one was completely damaged after i use it for a year plus.Have to fork out RM120 to buy a new one.
