my 2 cents

If you want commuting solution for everyday uses(urban+highway), 250 naked is a good option. Still nimble and agile as kapchai at heavy traffic gridlock, but still have enough power to shred medium at high speed motorways. All bike shaped as sports whether 150cc or 250cc and even 1000c rike R1 are not very suitable at urban or congested highway(ex. NPE, federal highway,NKVE). Even er6n or 6f also struggle at traffic gridlock.. except versys... brows.gif

If your ride is about rocketing all along highway or weekend track, the supersport segment is more suitable. Here zx-6r,yamaha-r6,zx-10r, yamaha-r1 and etc2 are the king. For example a BMW 800GS will surely struggle with zx-6r, even though zx-6r have smaller cc engine. This is because this bike is built for extreme acceleration and high speed at high rpm. Plus the aerodynamic space of supersport bike allow this kind of riding.

For riders whose enjoy breeze riding, they prefer cruiser type of bike. ex. harley, kawa vulcan, gold wing and etc2. These machine not build for rocketing acceleration but more on stability, comfort and long travel milage. You can maintain 130-150 kmh for all days on these bikes. Btw harlet shucks man.

Another type of bike is enduro-touring bike. This bike was was built to withstand abuse whether offroad or on highway. Its... rally type supermoto which annually used to compete on most gruesome and harsh route of Dakar rally. ex... BMW1200GS, KLR650 and etc2. Some says ducati multistrada fits with this category, buy personally I think, the high tech engine, gadget and electronics controlled suspension could not sustain endurance test like dakar rally.
Enduro bike is more about simplicity, trustworthy, reliability and maintainability.

Next, ppl whose still have supersport in heart, but like to go for distant tour, will appreciate the sport-touring bike. They still have torque maximum similar like supersport, but its power output is more gentle compared to supersports model. In some model, you can adjust the power output of your engine depends on your need(cruising or rocketing). Larger fairing and windshield usually come as standards and plus boxes, which geared for long travel.

Lastly, but not least, the super naked model. the super naked model can be splited into 2 section. First is medium segment, which usually comprise from 650cc to 800cc. For example the ubiquitous z750,er6n, er6f, BMW650R, yamaha fz6,fz8, cb400 and etc2. The second segment is the "SUPER" naked, usually 800cc to 10++cc, for example kawasaki z1000,zephr,suzuki b-king and etc2. These machine are more on urban assault bike, its mean you ride aggressively around town and sub-urban areas. Their look are very muscular and intimading, with plus high revving engine. These bike are capable of riding at 180km/h - 250km/h but, only if you have strong forearms and neck. It will become very uncomfortable for super naked rider at these speed.

to be continued
