Name : Touffy (Pronounced as Too-Fee)
Sex : Male
Breed : Maltese
D.O.B : 16th March 2009

Speciality : Creating havoc, barking and whining... also biting tongue.gif

He came to our house on the 22nd of April after his first vaccine. He looked so cute and quiet. But then hell broke lose on the 2nd day onwards. He's so active and so playful, running around the house and wee-ed and poo-ed everywhere.

We spent some time training him so now at least he knows where to do his 'business' biggrin.gif
but sometime dunno he notty or forgetful. he still wee and poo everywhere when he feels like doing tat.

About 3 weeks ago, he managed to climb up the stairs and go to my bedroom.
but he dunno how to come down. tongue.gif
last few days, he learnt how to come down by himself edy.
the headache part is he like to go upstairs to poo on the brand new carpet. sad.gif *headache*

Here is some of his photos

Your maltese looks like mine during puppy time.

2.2kg is too heavy for a 3 months maltese.  Mine only around 1.4kg at 3 months.  Now 3.4kg at 8 months.  At 3 months, i feed her about 25 pellets each meal, 2 meals per day.  I feed her about 30 pellets now.

I believe 3 tables spoon not exceeding 25 pellets.  The size of the maltese is very much depending on genetic.

The brown patch on the ears might or might not vanish when grows adult.  RM1250 is reasonable price for local breed maltese.

My maltese is housebreaking and she only pee on the tray, 100% accuracy.

My maltese very independent one.  She doesn't attached me so much.  I love my maltese but u still have personal thing to do in house.  I do not want him to keep barking when i am not in her eye sight.

Thanks for your reply, rabbitkiller.

u r so lucky... it has been 1 mths plus... my maltese still pee and poo here and there. rclxub.gif

2.2 kg for 3 months I must say too much... as now mine is 9 months old about 1.5 kg++ only...

I'm not sure about feeding amount as I fed mine with barf since she was puppy till now so kibbles I used as treats for her sometimes tongue.gif

but I do heard that for puppy 6-7weeks if not mistaken, feed 2 times a day with 2 table spoon each time feeding. and dont give him too much snack except treats for training purposes smile.gif

Mine now only eat 1 times a day about 60-70 gram per meal. Same with yours she has brown patches as well carried from her father pigmentation smile.gif
*
hmm... i shd seriously cut down for his snack. and oni feed him twice a day... shocking.gif
thanks for sharing ya. smile.gif

4th jab? If by the time you bring him back home he's already finish 1st jab then u can just finish the rest 2. But if u're not sure then u can start from 1st jab and so most probably ur dog will finish his jab for the 4th time smile.gif

Welcome to maltese family smile.gif

Hi.. sorry ya... din notice.. log in ID is my bf (toytoy). I had posted my maltese's photos last few weeks here. His name is Touffy. biggrin.gif

he got his first jab about 2 mths old. so after 3 jabs is 4 months. Vet said is better to hav the last jab at 4mth old.. so better take one more lor...
still thinking to take 9 in 1 or 6 in 1 (previuosly he is taking 6 in 1). smile.gif

If not mistaken my girl 1st jab is around 1 month plus which nearly 2 months old just took her 1st jab and finish her 3rd jab on early this year when she was about 3 months plus smile.gif

about the vaccine rite, I kinda forgot mine is 9 in 1 or 10 in 1 but my advice is better to use the newest one. I mean if u confused between 6 and 9, I would suggest to take the 9 in 1 cuz it cover more virus and I think it advisable to vaccine 9 in 1 rather than 6 in 1 smile.gif
*
hehe... thanks for ur advice. smile.gif

he took the 9 in 1 vaccine tis afternoon.
according to vet, now hav 10 in 1 which "9 in 1" and "6 in 1" contain virus but "10 in 1" hav virus+bakteria.
correct me if im wrong. coz cant remember clearly. biggrin.gif

im goin nuts edy....
i had spent few months to toilet train my touffy.
After that, he know he shd go into his cage to pee and poo

but recently he start being notty...
he purposely pee and poo on my carpet, right in front of his cage, and wherever he feel like it....
He knew he shdnt do so.
coz when he pee / poo at wrong spot, he will hide from us...
once he saw me he will run away.
if he done nothing wrong he will juz follow me wherever i go....

sigh.... wat shd i do???

Hehe.. if u have only one dog, then u can punish him when u see his poop or pee. just make sure u bring him to the "accident" spot let him smell then only punish + raise ur voice to show him u r angry!! then after clean up, bring it the the right spot and let him stand on the right spot and do ur soft talking to show him u please him to do the right thing..

If the cage is too far apart, maybe u need to train him on wee wee pad + tray...
*
oh... thanks a lot cathy... i oni do the first part (bring him to smell his 'accident' spot) but din bring him to the right spot.
I only tried my best to guide him to his cage to pee and poo whenever i c him hav intention to release.
Thanks ya... will try ur method from now on... rclxms.gif

coz i bought my male maltese with cert ( i tot wit cert at least ensure that his mom and dad is pure breed maltese)
However, my maltese had grown bigger size than my mom's maltese (female without cert) cry.gif

There's a devil staying inside her beautiful angel's face LOL
when she was a pup till last year, she will scream, shout out loud with her SUPER HIGH PITCH voice whenever I'm going out from my room, either go downstairs, go to school, etc etc as long as I was out from my room she will shout till I came back -.-
shout not bark! cuz she knows she cannot bark so she shout like those voice kena smack or in pain  sweat.gif not only that, whenever I put her inside her pen she will also scream until she was out of the pen -.-"" For the past year, I've been lost of idea on how to train her to at least be quiet inside her pen until I realize one thing. She will shout or scream because she doesnt want to be left alone inside my room!  doh.gif
*
Oh my touffy is acting the opposite...
he tend to bark a lot (real loud) when i put him in his play pen.
but if he pee on floor, as a punishment, i lock him into his cage. he will be real quiet.
once i put him out in his play pen/ let him run freely in the house / car porch,he is barking non stop... rclxub.gif
My bf always said touffy is acting like barbarian.. his noise is disturbing... especially, when he bark and other dog in the neighbourhood bark together.. tat's nitemare. doh.gif
There was one time when i let touffy play in the car porch, then he start barking again.
My bf opened the door and shout "DIAM!!!!!' (to warn touffy) a few neighbours who were so happened standing outside, was lookin at my bf in shock... sweat.gif

For a 3 months old puppy, every 6 times miss 1 or 2 times, your dog is doing great already! Even a 3 months old human baby yet to learn how to go toilet on her own, I would say your puppy is very smart boy. Continue praising while he is doing the right thing will encourage him to aim accurately. Do expect accidents or nottiness sometimes, it is understandable as they are animals anyway.

Also, have you tried changing the pad more frequently or placing 2 pcs of pads instead of one? Some dogs tend to refuse to pee on the pad when it is full or almost full especially those hygienic ones. Believe me most dogs do love to stay clean!
*
hmm... my touffy is one years old edy....
dunno why he picked up bad habbit everytime i let him stay with my mom( put him with my mom when im away for trip)
1st time, he come back and tends to bark a lot.. last time, q quiet ger.. cry.gif
2nd time, he do marking everywhere in my house. rclxub.gif
3rd time, he pee wit his leg up.. doh.gif

for the pee and poo part, im still very headache....
once i let him out of his playpen, he will start to do marking...
but in fact, he know where he shd pee.
under my observation, he will go back to his cage to pee and poo.
but once i m not lookin at him, he will do marking...

why???? last time, touffy is a good boy...
he will watch tv with me and play with himself when im busy..

Same here!! She was an angel before she went for boarding, but after coming back, my girl started to purposely pee outside her designated toilet to get back at me whenever i do something she doesnt like (like put her back in her pen or keep her snacks)! vmad.gif

For the first few days i had to potty train her again too... seems like she forgot cuz she anyhow pee everywhere!  rclxub.gif
*
my touffy's problem is he know where is should pee...
7 out of 10 he will pee in his cage
but 3 time he pee rite beside the cage and then do marking around the house oso... vmad.gif

I can't give u the right answer because my kids are both girls xD so honestly what I'm gonna say is based on the readings that I read when I do my research  tongue.gif

as far as I know, some dogs will do marking when u bring them outside or play that has others dog's smell or pee xD but there is also some case like yours, mark in the house xD for this, u gotta wait White Palace  to help u answer xDD

but for pee with one leg up, I got read before somewhere that say if ur dog start to do marking, some will also start to pee with one leg up smile.gif
*
thanks, muchan. biggrin.gif

i gav up edy... i juz let him do marking at my car porch to satisfy him... cry.gif
