By the way, may I know any of the Maltese lovers here has problem with your dogs' skin? My dog suffers from fur lost, quite severe actually, on off for about a year already. Saw many vets, also not improving. Currently on long term low dose steroids..your advice is very much appreciated.

Hey, welcome to the group. saw ur dog losing fur on the leg right? mine also same..the body fur alot but the legs fur getting lesser almost can see the bone.
Did the vet say what is the reason fot that? my dog skin ok but only she shed a lot..

Not only the legs, it has very bad fur lost over the buttock and legs as she always scratches it, vet said its yeast infection, tried oral pills for many many months, NOT improving at all, then switched meds, also not working, so in the end i prescribed her steroid. (I'm medical doctor, heee), so actually i'm treating the dog myself. Steroids works like magic pills, buy just long term usage will have very bad side effects.

why does my 4 months old female maltese stil pee everywher? she seems to pee in the pee pad correctly when i put her in the playpen near the kitchen? and when she has 'accidents' i'll clean it up with dettol and then vinegar+water. is it because the pee pad is too far away?  must i put it in the living room?

What I did to my maltese is shifting my pee pan bit by bit each day, until to the place you want, for me I put in kitchen(shifted from living room to kitchen in 2 weeks). Everytime your maltese has an accident, quickly put her in the pee pan(within 1-2 minutes after they pee), and repeat this every time she has accident. If she did it correctly, praise them with your treat fast(with 1 minutes) to do positive reinforcement.

Hope it works for you. smile.gif

After a year plus of skin disease, my Babie finally back to normal.

For those we intend to see how bad is her condition back in 2011, you can see HERE:
My Maltese Skin Condition 2011

What I did just shift my maltese from sleeping indoor to sleeping in my dry kitchen. Her condition improves over months, and she is now a beauty again. biggrin.gif
