hey maltese owners! my 3 month old puppy is shedding excessive fur lately. why is her condition like that? as i know maltese doesnt shed fur especially puppies. i sayang and brush her also will shed fur.

i feed her eukanuba small breed kibbles, 30 kibbles per meal (yes, i count one by one), 3 meals per day; her appetite is good and i feed her RO water from the bottle water. the vet gave me some kind of oil based supplement for her coat but i havent start giving her yet. she eats half tablet of pfizer pet tabs tablets once a day, everyday. as for the shampoo i use chris christensen white on white + cc conditioner + cc fluff and fluffier + cc after bath + blow dry. the white on white only once or twice a month, other bath i use normal cc shampoo.

im kinda worried of her condition now, my house and car also full of furs flying around. recently got a lot of ticks bite her but i managed to take all of them off and now no more ticks problem. ears are very clean, no signs of scratching or itching so far. most of the time she sleeps on the floor even she got a pet bed for herself.

please help

Hmmm.... never know maltese got shed also? anyway... since u feed ur maltese with kibbles it could possibly get skin disease as what u had mentioned bout the flying fur n when u brush her also....

Maybe I need Yang to clarify more as he's the expert hehe... I'm just a student? lol

maybe its her diet.. as far as i noe some dogs cant take certain types of dog food due to quality.. try feeding her food lyk orijen or addiction... or if possible drop by fluff pet shop and get the BARF diet.. so far Barf works great on sensitive dogs.. my silky terrier lost more of his fur.. then i started him on Barf and so far so good he is getting his fur back.. mind u my silky is 15 years old.. XD

I have got a maltese a months ago. My maltese is now 3 months +.

When i first bought her, she seems okay to stay in the cage while i am around.

My maltese barks non stop( half hour non stop) if i put her in the cage while i am still at home recently. I know she barks because she needs attention from me. I cannot play with her all the time as i have my daily work to do in house also.

I have tried put her in the crates(around a king bed size) but it just not help. She needs people to play with her.

I have put many toys and it seems not help also.


I am really getting mad because her barking distract my attention in doing daily works and i am sure that it disturb my neighbour also.


I can play with her 1-2 hours but not ALL the time while i am at home.

However, she is not barking if i leave the house for work.


I thought my life will be joyous having a dog in my life but now my life seems very tention.

I thought maltese is very gentle and not so barky as i read in the internet.

Please help me. I know i have to do something with my doggie if continue like this.

Mine same with u also... but my girl is one of the 'naughtiest' maltese I ever know I gues? lol

my girl will bark non-stop while I put her inside play pen but I'm around with her... but if I let her out she will quiet immediately then when I put her back she started to bark non-stop again... after sometimes I realize that she dun like being caged into play pen and scared that I leave her alone so when I let her out she just sleep near me and follow me whenever I go...

as what u had said, maybe she really needs ur attention.. afterall.. 3 months old consider a puppy who still needs play and attention?

a puppy is always attention seeker.... n i guess... no matter what u haf to find a way to play wif her as much as u could.
Mine used to be like dat also... but after a while, he's getting used to it... so whenever i go to work... i put him to cage / playpen... den he js keep quite.... far diff from a few months i got him.... he used to whine alot instead of barking actually... so its still find wif me... i guess... i'm considered lucky dat time...

mayb u could try to play wif him for while... den put him back to cage/crate... den after 30 minutes... take him out... n play again... den put him back...like dat? not sure if can work... but u could try...

otherwise... mayb u try to talk to her... say No... den if he/she keep quite already.. praise him/her like hell n gif them treats...

Btw.. y dun u intro ur cutie maltese to us? is a she or he? any pic to share?

My maltese has no problem while i leaving house for work.

I have problem when i am at house and i put her in the cage only. She will bark non stop for attention.

I spent almost one hour play with her everyday.

May i know how you all organise the time with your puppy. I suppose everyone has their daily activities. We coundn't spend all the time with the puppy.

My maltese also like to bite my legs and it is quite painful also.

What can i do to stop her from biting my leg?

Her paws got a bit skin infection and the fur was shaved to ease in applying cream.

hmmm.... if like dat... den it's normal... cos my mikey also like dat... whenever im home.. he sure wanna go out n play wif me.... to me...last time... i js plain ignore him... but i still keep an eye on wat is he doin... where he goes to, etc....

Den i'll play wif him for while... den stop... den play again... i think she js need sometimes... cos puppy onli wanna play... when she gets older... in general rule... maltese will b calmer... hahaha... but this not apply to mine... but he is very calm when i put him to playpen... last time... he used to keep on jumping cos wanan go out from there... nowadays... he js lay down n look at me to go off to work or do hsework....

while biting legs... u js haf to teach her n say no whenever she does dat.... she'll learn ....

yup.... agree with cutevb... maybe the diff is... our maltese din really stay inside cage or playpen while we r at home.. so they free to follow us and just sleep nearby while we do our work... and the biting part u seriously need to say NO whenever she tried to bite if no she will think u that u play with him as it means she was chasing ur it n thinks that u play with her. Cuz mine bite my foot too... but now dunno how is she cuz just gonna meet her again later
