QUOTE(vexus @ Jan 18 2009, 10:10 PM) how to transfer phonebook contact from SE phone to nokia phone? 1. Backup your SE contacts to memory card. 2. Copy your SE .vcf file from System/Pim in the memory card (note that SE saves all your contacts in one vcf file, so you need to split it out) 2. Download the vcfsplitter software http://www.dm9.se/dev/widgets.php. It's freeware so no worries. 3. Read the instructions included in the readme file. Basically take the vcf file and drag it to the vcfsplitter.exe (no need to run the exe, just drag and drop on top of the vcfsplitter). The vcf file will automatically split in the same directory you put the vcfsplitter in. 4. Use Nokia PC Suite to import all the .vcf files into your Nokia 5800 and you're done

QUOTE(freeman1314 @ Jan 18 2009, 10:58 PM) Yaya now all gao dim already . Just waiting for time for me to test it outdoor. Staying at 11th floor don't know why very hard to lock on the satelite. Glad to hear it I stay on 14th floor but lucky is the top floor. I went out to my corridor and try it ok. But in landscape the map overlaps, I guess not yet optimised for the 5800. What map you're using? I downloaded Malsing map. Added on January 18, 2009, 11:02 pmQUOTE(vexus @ Jan 18 2009, 11:00 PM) No worries.....and remember to check in with your 5800 next week! Added on January 18, 2009, 11:04 pmQUOTE(ljy1 @ Jan 18 2009, 10:56 PM) how to install malaysia maps inside garmin? Just copy the map file into the Garmin folder on your phone i.e. in the memory card. Free maps can be obtained from Malsing maps and Malfree maps. Check out the GPS specific thread also on Lowyat forum, lots of information there. QUOTE(chris2k @ Jan 18 2009, 11:05 PM) Any idea how to transfer all contacts from Motorola V3xx to the 5800? Tried googling but there's nothing helpful... I could transfer by Bluetooth one by one (cos there's no option to transfer multiple! ) Imagine doing this a few hundred times.... Is there a simpler way? Thanks. I dunno about Moto but for SE I've posted the steps on how to transfer the contacts. Check if your Moto also saves contacts as a vcf file, and if it does, just follow the steps I outlined in my earlier post. Alternatively, if your Moto can sync with Outlook, then sync all your contacts with Outlook and then sync Outlook with your 5800. Hope this helps. QUOTE(squall_kay @ Jan 19 2009, 12:10 AM) js edit ur contact. add his/her birthday, then when finish, it will auto update/include into ur calendar I'll try that but then I'll have to do it one by one...any shortcuts? Problem was I transferred over my contacts from my SE and I don't think it was smart enough to update the birthdays automatically. Hmmm tried it but does not work....I'll have to figure this out.... QUOTE(yongkailoon @ Jan 19 2009, 12:45 AM) I think if you were to transfer contacts from a phone that is a different brand, only the phone number will be transferred. In my opinion, even if you transfer contacts from a S40 phone to S60, it would only transfer the phone number as well. Not true. All information can be transferred over. Including notes, e-mail addresses etc as long as both phones support the vcf format.

Anyone bought a car charger for the 5800 yet? What's the price like? Reason for this is too seriously use the GPS when driving, a car charger is a necessity as batt consumption is high.

I've been researching the camera shutter sound thing and it seems that it's firmware region specific. In regions where there are privacy laws governing the need for a digital camera/phone camera to make a sound when taking pictures, then we cannot silence it. For example, Japan where there were tons of pervy "upskirt" pictures taken when cameras were introduced in phones. In Europe there are no such laws, thus if we flash a Europe specific firmware for example, our 5800 should have the option to silence the camera shutter sound or at least disable it from switching warning tones to off. Other than that we can try to delete the files from drive z:, but I haven't read that far yet so nothing I can add.
Hmmm, seems this has been discussed earlier too. Anyone tried out Europe firmware or cCam yet?

QUOTE(Apis_LuaLua @ Jan 20 2009, 09:11 PM) this appc sacrifice that AF?? is that what eiraku mean? Yup sounds like it. I'd rather leave the sound on then but sometimes only use when you don't want people to know you're taking their pics, whether ethically correct or not...?

QUOTE(buyou12 @ Jan 21 2009, 12:53 PM) To be honest, I bought this phone knowing full well what are the problems that may potentially be there. So I don't really want to get myself worked up over such a small thing even though as you know, we as a consumer have the full right to do so.....I get sick of arguing sometimes after all it is my job to do so. Anyway, small matter, solved it in less than 5 minutes (although opening up the case is a bit tricky but not difficult). Taking it back requires more effort, more waiting and more frustration. The society will improve if there are complaints but then I really can't be bothered. Live and let live they say. Added on January 21, 2009, 12:57 pmoh, if it was a car repair situation, you are right to say its similar but then one is fatal the other is just a small annoyance..... Couldn't agree more. Nevertheless, it just goes to illustrate that the service levels in Malaysia for this sort of things have a long way to go to match those in developed countries. My 5800 came back after "replacing" the earpiece with a little indentation in the casing where I think they pried it open, didn't notice it until a couple days ago. After the initial WTF moment, I figured heck with it, there are better things to do than waste time on people that won't change.

QUOTE(kilo_charger @ Jan 21 2009, 01:40 PM) All 5800 will have earpiece problem?I just considering to buy this hp Not all 5800s have the earpiece problem, it is one of the most frequent problems that users have faced but something that's easily fixed. At the end of the day you have to decide yourself whether you can live with an imperfect product or not. If you are very fussy, then I think you'd have to wait a little while longer until Nokia sorts out their quality issues and God only knows when that'll be. However, if you read our thread here and are a fully aware purchaser, you still will be able to get great enjoyment from the 5800 even with all its faults. I bought the 5800 knowing fully that its not perfect but haven't regretted my decision at all - the 5800 is value for money and it ROCKS!
