QUOTE(leongtat @ Jan 21 2009, 11:07 AM) Hei Conversion from AVI to MP4 is take reasonable time... i use allok for all other input formats, and winmenc for mkv.but to convert mkv to MP4 really takes lotsa of time... tried many converter but most of the converter take more than hours to convert mkv to MP4... any software recommend for a faster conversion? Added on January 21, 2009, 11:14 am Converting time for the SUPER is too long....still the total converter is the fastest interm of converting... allok manages to convert all without jerky playback, but settings not much adjustment allowed. even bitrates more than 2700+ play fine. filesizes are large for superb settings, but no 2-pass encoding allowed. still looking for one that allows.... winmenc converts HD mkv/rm/avi fast and fine, but for some quicktime and mp4 the converted result plays fine on pc, but jerky on 5800. |

I would recommend setting the resolution to 640x360 instead. no point encoding to bigger res than the screen is. Just click the "More" box.
For audio bitrate, for aac audio, 112 will be good enough for video if you're tight for space. |

QUOTE(RiuK3n @ Jan 21 2009, 02:19 PM) Actually it depends.. I'm doing it per average settings... coz some videos are have unusual properties especially jap drama's (tried 640x360 and I got a black screen above and below the video, but using the settings I did in the tutorial I got it to be crystal clear full screen) and when converted they tend to run off from their properties.. that depends on your needs....if you just want the video to fill the whole screen, and play with the aspect ratio and stretch it option. you gotta check your japanese dramas' original resolution to determine the optimum settings. So i'm just maximising and at the same time averaging the numerous files there is.. Diff videos and diff computers give diff outputs, tat's y not everyone have the same output file even if they use the same converter But thanks for the info.. will edit it.. hehe i still prefer to have my video with the original aspect ratio, and not have any stretching. so for 4:3 video, i'll have black bars on the sides, and for 2.35:1 movies i'll have black bars on the top/bottom. |

QUOTE(RiuK3n @ Jan 21 2009, 03:10 PM) Yup yup, tat's y before converting i always check.. coz it's too troublesome to do it again if did it wrongly... Yup...for some weird videos, the video properties also koyak at times....video appears to be 16:9 during playback, but indicated resolution is 4:3.I notice that stretch it sometimes elongates the screen too much that people tend to look fat... Even the settings i set here is not really perfect coz normal videos that are not wide screen will hav black bar also but only at the side but nt top and bottom To be safe, for widescreen video, (using winmenc) i just choose fit to width, for 4:3 video, i choose fit to height, and it's been pretty much smooth sailing so far. Still looking for a proper convertor like winmenc that allows multi-threading, cpu priority choice and the various options. Super cannot adjust some options, and the encoding doesn't take advantage of multi-core processors. Allok is just too simplified and doesn't allow bitrate choice. But nice to note that video bitrate doesn't seem to affect the video playback in 5800....so it's the choice of encoder that matters more. Added on January 21, 2009, 3:48 pm QUOTE(leongtat @ Jan 21 2009, 03:18 PM) i'm using winmenc for my mkv conversion...only good for those with AC3 soundtrack. dts sound will go out of sync.set to highest cpu priority and double multi-threading, i'm getting around 1:1 encoding timing for a 1280x720 mkv. i can imagine for allok it's gonna take damn long.....since it already takes so long to convert my MGS4 trailers. QUOTE(hvaly @ Jan 21 2009, 03:51 PM) yes, the bitrate wont have much effect, if u read my tips, try to use H.264 @ 550kbps resolution 400×224(also mp4 format), it give the best result. Other nokia phones also subjected to the same problems.....in fact, our 5800's player is even more forgiving than the others...used n95 8gb, e61, 6220c, 5700 before...many testing had done by other expert for our 5800. Our tube seem to be special one and not widely accept other resolution/format (either wont play at all or just playing with sound but no picture). 400x224 you say? like that a bit wasting of the 640x360 nhd resolution isn't it? I usually encode from 1280x720 media. |

For those interested to use the built-in IM client in 5800, take a look here.
http://www.mobjab.com/freeimps.htm Tested with MSN and it works fine. Not as pretty as the others, but it's integrated nicely. Just purely for messaging, no fancy stuff. This post has been edited by kennyboy: Jan 21 2009, 09:52 PM |

cannot compare. iphone uses the electrical impulses of our skin to sense touch, our 5800 is use pressure detection. iphone much more sensitive and also no need screenlock as only skin can trigger it. Objects push against it won't trigger it like ours.

QUOTE(chris2k @ Jan 21 2009, 10:46 PM) Doesn't? I'm encoding something right now at 640x360... at the panel at the bottom right you can click on Video Size under Video Options and type your preferred size. I don't know if I'm doing this correctly but I'm 100% sure I could type my preferred size there. Perhaps I'll only know once I'm done converting and when I get my bluetube video bitrate can adjust, but not the video size. Can only select the ones given.edit : ah...i was following finch!'s advice to choose customized mp4...that one cannot adjust size. The mobile phone mp4 option can adjust size.
