GPS device problem solved.
The reason I choose to use GMXT instead of using Nokia Maps is because Nokia Maps downloads maps when you reach a new place. That is alot of data being downloaded for me who is not using unlimited data plan.
*
well, you can always use the nokia maploader to preload map. it's free for the whole world anyway.

hope nokia fix the certificate error problem.. did a hard reset still reoccurring anyways Ive found few softwares which i want to install badly like theme scheduler and profile scheduler which now available on the 5800XM by DrJukka
*
Those all need to sign, nothing to do with the cert error. The cert error is permanently gone after a hard reset.

' i did a hard reset but still some apps have error meaning those apps need to be signed is that what youre saying..?

weird thing is i try install 'unsigned' apps if u know what i mean..but still get that error
*
precisely. the old error was that all apps cannot be installed, regardless signed or not. for example, signed apps like google maps couldn't be installed before the *#7370# reset.

after reset, google maps can be installed easily.

however, those apps that cannot be installed after the reset, are those that needs to be signed, either open signed or with a dev cert.

most freeware can be open signed as the developers will use the open range of uid for the software. however, those that are cracked obviously can't be opensigned, and those requires a proper dev cert to sign.

so don't be confused that you still get the cert expired error after reset....most probably it is because you are trying to install an app that needs signing.

today is the second time that my memory card cant detect the memory card on 5800.. the wallpaper all become original themes then when i unplug the memory card n reenter the memory card only can read.. anyone face this thing?
*
this is a standard problem on s60 phones for a long time already. to be sure that your themes/wallpapers don't change when u enter mass storage mode, make sure to install the theme and wallpaper on the phone memory.

enter mass storage removes the phone's access to the memory card, so themes/wallpapers in mem card are also cut off.

if you're worried that a theme installed on phone memory will screw your phone (like the christmas theme debacle) just install it once on mem card, install and test. If it works fine on mem card, uninstall it and reinstall it on phone memory. It will still work fine, and will also work fine when connected in mass storage mode. same for wallpapers....leave a copy of your current wallpaper on the phone memory and use that for wallpaper.

For those who on/off bluetooth frequently, this is good stuff.

Set it as a shortcut on your standby menu.

Need to sign. Either opensign or use your own devcert.

where are you trying to acquire a fix?

you have no idea of the number of numbnuts who tell me they cannot acquire a gps fix in their own home/office/any place with a concrete ceiling.

want to add 1 more thing... U can activate A-GPS on yr phone to speed up the locking time (A = Assisted)

How much it cost U per locking? MYR0.05 according to this site
*
Do note that if you enter a tunnel and lose fix, when you come out, it's another RM0.05 gone again. biggrin.gif

Oh I have done the "hard reset" already but I still get the same result. Instead I have to put my contacts in all over again, not to mention the personalised settings. T_T

Added on January 19, 2009, 9:46 amI have read the first page already...still no cure. Unless u tell me that hard reset is the way to solve the problem.....
*
YOU GOTTA SIGN THE APPLICATION.

Yes, that clears it up now. Its the variant indicator for different region. I believe Nokia should come out with something to compete with LG Cookie. A 3G-less version of the Nokia 5800. Its gonna be very competitive. Ooh wait, to go that cheap it has to use s40 but it doesn't have the touch version of s40.  brows.gif Something for the future.
All packages (even AP) should come with 8GB unless the seller decides to remove it from the package.
*
hehe....there is already a non-3g and non-wifi version of 5800 for the china market. wonder how much that costs?

It will always appear under the american english in the menus....it won't have a new choice. choose american english and the new voice will be used.

ya i understand that ... but i choose the american english voice and it come out no voice at all
*
Do note that some voices won't work. In fact, i've tried around 5-6 voices, and only 1 worked properly. A Borat like voice iirc.

The rest either don't play, or have incomplete pronounciations. Those from Garmin are only compatible with several standalone models iirc.
