I have read an article (PC MAG). The writer has a US region console and he is living in UK. After the NXE update, he decided to get a HDD from his local store and after fixing it to his Xbox360, he found it incompatible as there is a region lock.
I am not sure about China though. Is it NTSC/J ? If it is, then you won't have any problems using it .

Darn ... this is bad news indeed.
I plan to purchase the XBOX 60GB HDD starter pack from the UK as my sister is studying there. But I don't know whether it can work on my Asia Jasper set (Korean set I think).
Can any guru out there help me?

I believe, if the guy is in his right mind, then he is possibly telling a truth and not a fib. I am unable to recall the article link, but it's related to pc world. However, something interesting that involves ebay , china and xbox 360 HDD. http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=606482Read the bottom post.

^ actually i dunno where got sell. i'm just speculating. if some "accessories" are openly on sale in HK and China, i'm guessing surely some of those "supplies" will trickle into our local shops EDIT: these self-mod HDD are not hard to be make. some factory in china can just manufacture a bunch of HDD casings + a cheap batch of WD HDD and viola - a very profitable item to be sold on ebay. but i don't really respect these ppl cos it seems they lazy to do the "partition 2" hexing so when ppl want to play XBOX1 games, they can't unless they DIY again themselves This post has been edited by acougan: Jan 16 2009, 03:35 PM

But my sister only coming back here in June so it's going to be a future purchase lah. At the moment my Jasper still OK, just that when I play older games such as GOW and Halo3 the disc drive sounds like a helicopter.
