According to Eurogamer, numerous publishing sources have confirmed that Sony is at work at a third hardware revision and it's planned to come out next year. Not only that, but software developers are reportedly busy working on games for a "PSP2." There were no specific details revealed involving either hardware. The PSP2, unlike the PSP-4000, has not been given any sort of timeframe.

Despite how assured Eurogamer is on the credibility of the information, Sony continues to give the usual "won't comment on rumors and speculation" response. In fact, it was not too long ago that SCEE head David Reeves denied the existence of a PSP successor as rumors unfurled from a tech deal.

i have no intention to start of any rumors, but i'm wondering whether this is true or it is not

ahahaha, i think those pictures are photoshop edited... by the way, from the source that i've read...sony doesn't wanna talk bout the hot rumored psp 2 or psp 4000 series now...Anyway if the rumors happens to be true...jz hoping that the psp2 can show something special like having the game graphics like the next gen console...able to operate msn or any other related communication software like skype in it so or maybe even enable us to input our hp sim card into it so tat we can make phone calls when we are playing games...making it looks like a gaming type PDA... Anyway those are jz my opinion.. ...true or not true we'll all be waiting eagerly now to see whether Sony is able to release the psp2 by tis year or not...

I hope PSP2 come, but better not a mere horse-power upgrades. They need new novel / innovative concept to fight Nintendo and Apple.

PSP is sleek, but the demographic is too concentrated on poor 13-17 yo male. These demographic don't give u enough depth for profit.

heard game dev have already been working on the PSP2 titles.. and from the survey they given out I believe most of it will make it to the final production.

Some specs are comon usually found in mobile phone these days, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, TouchScreen, MS Card, Accelormeter, Wifi... these are the not so sure yet HDD, TV Tuner, 3G, Camera, Secondary Camera...

Software base improving connectivity with PS3 Bluetooth file transfers, better web browser.

Product Size, they mention in the survey if its better to make the PSP smaller but with the same screen size... to me I think the PSP is as small as it can get, any smaller it would be uncomfortable, and with all the latest upgrades I dont think it can get any smaller.

This info is about a month old but other than that, there has been no official announcement of a new PSP in development.
BUT, knowing sony, they would probably unleash the concept at q3 of this year and release it in 2010.

Imagination technologies, a British company, says that it has signed an agreement with a “major consumer electronics company”, which most likely happens to be Sony and has won the contract to design the next-gen graphics processor, theSGX55x, for the upcoming PSP2. Imagination’s PowerVR MBX chip has also proved to be a success as its being used for Apple’s iPhone. The company is trying to keep this secret because Sony doesn’t want to announce any of its future plans for the PSP yet.

This new “Top Secret” chip is said to be much more powerful than the one currently used in psp which is designed by Sony itself and is quite similar to the one found in older PS2s.

sony won't announce they are making psp2 yet because psp sales currently is really strong. making announcement of psp2 will most likely kill off psp sales..

And it will kill of UMD sales too atm, because i heard PSP2 is bases on HDD installed games.

well, PSP3000 is something with solid proof of picture post by some china forum, Sony DIDNT deny it. They said no comment.

As for PSP2, it is some lame concept by some lame fanboy~ Until sony's further announcement, i think we shouldnt speculate those fake rumours~

Well they wont kill their own product that quick because it is only January, since they are surveying bout the next gen handheld, they might be starting to plan only.

Concept product is usually stupid and created by brainless ppl who think adding EVERYTHING into it is cool. They do not know the difficulties or what is the capabilities of the current tech. Its not as easy as ABC to add everything inside~
