hey guys i recently purchased an iphone 3g (singtel set) and read of all the horror stories of people getting an insanely high bills because of the EDGE and 3G feature being switched on all the time. i called up maxis and upgraded to the 3G unlimited plan for RM99 a month. is this the safe option so that i don't end up with a rm400 bill for my edge 3g usage? does this mean i can switch on all the features on my iphone and use as much or as little as i want for rm99 a month?

also my data roaming in the settings menu is switched off. should i leave the switch on or off? what does it do actually?

unlimited data plan is the best choice la bro. No need to be scared by the high bill. All the free apps feel free to be played need not scared the ads cost u. I am also thinking whether to upgrade my data plan. Currently am using 5mb plan tat cost me rm8/month. Just to play safe.

would you like ur phone being barred for call out and can receive call only? haha.. i bet not rite. so just play safe lo bro. always check ur current maxis bill via the website or call the hotline 123. This is how i did lo. Those who also applied for subline the limit is not 250 for urself only. is added another 250 on it. Like me i have 5 lines including the principal line. so total limit is 1250. if just solely use the internet, all my 5 phones will be barred in a week.

Just received my first full month bill with using iphone 3g. Used 4.3mb for maxis mobile internet. charged rm23.66 but rebate rm20.25 for 5mb data bundle so totalled mobile internet chrages is 3.41. i tot is gonna charge me rm8 for all. strange.

if i didnt subscribe for 5mb mobile internet, the total charged will be like RM43.00.

@jackdon,
At RM102.50 p/MB you're better off just paying the hotel for internet connection smile.gif

Anyhow, I must have done something to disable the 3G setting on my iPhone 3G because it doesn't work! I understand there's no need to be in any setting and it should work immediately but it doesn't work on mine and I haven't had time to call Maxis to check re the activation and all.

Anyways, good call changing to a RM99 Unlimited Data Package plan. Speaking of which, is there a lock-in period when we make the change or can we change it back to our usual plan when we decide to?

i've noticed my bill has gone up abit since i got my iPhone. should i turn Location Services off? 'cause sometimes when i play games there will be a prompt asking whether the game can use my Location Service. is it accessing to the net? blink.gif

would the RM8 per month data plan be sufficient for me for some light GPS usage? RM99 is too expensive for me dy. sweat.gif

DiGi forged an alliance with Time dotCom Bhd (TDC) to transfer the 3G spectrum to DiGi for over RM700mil and for DiGi to have access to a vast fibre optic network.
