Nobody is talking behind anybody else's back. This is straight forward and direct. I think what Jiat did when he apologized was right. He knows his faults and he's said that he's willing to work on it. It didn't have to be so public, but it was his choice. You saying that he doesn't need to apologize is just devaluing his apology. Don't worry, there's no situation to defuse here.
