I am doing a combined degree of science and engineering in ANU. Welcome to ANU and congratulations on getting an offer from RSC.

Canberra is a pretty green and quiet city. My first impression of Canberra was that this city couldn't be the capital of Australia. KL is much busier and noisier but the food here is not cheap. Expect around AUD10-20 for a proper meal. If I am not mistaken, the lowest average salary is AUD15/hr.

I live on campus so I am not really well informed of the accomodations around. I lived on a catered hall during the last term and it cost me $285 per week.That's basically what I spent every week. I don't really go out and drink so that saved me tons of money.

A$22500/year works out to be $1875/month. That is some serious cash there. I knew scholarship students were loaded.

Looking at ANU's website, the generic average cost of living in Canberra is about $1600/month. Granted, rents are not cheap in Canberra, but from my experience university cost estimates for living costs tend to err on the higher side. My university thinks I need about $1400/month in Brisbane; I get along well with about $1000/month (admittedly, not much to spare, but its not a bad life)

First of all, congrats on the scholarship. Is this a postgraduate research scholarship, under IPRS/Endeavour? If it's an undergraduate scholarship, then it is definitely very generous. With PHD scholarships, you can also get top ups from teaching work at university and if you're willing to enter into industrial linkage grants, you could match over and above graduate salaries.

i mean when u apply visa today n get approved 2-5days later, then ur visa will start at 2-5days later which mean u can go australia after visa approved
i doubt so..n don think will happen
