I will be going to Melbourne U next February and I would like to bring my CPU over there, it's pretty bulky and weighs roughly 10.5kg, can I courier it there or ship it there? How long will it take to reach and it this even feasible? Thank you.

1. You will likely be taxed as you are shipping personal effects. Check this at the customs web site.
2. Courier charges are expensive. Have you ever used it? If you had, you should know the costs of such bulky items.

A desktop computer is NOT substantially cheaper if purchased in Malaysia (our electronic items are not cheap), hence you're better off buying it here as you can then get warranty for it too. If you want real cost savings, you should import your high end components from the US (such as i7 CPUs, SSDs, etc) as they are considerably cheaper than both Malaysia and Australia.

tell you a catch going around aussie now. With Aud about to reach in par with USD or better; buying latest gadget & electronic & pcs stuff gone cheaper than previous year.

you might want to tap the advantage of the currency wise; shipping from msia abit troublesome so its not worth after you arrive here awhile; your item aged faster. sweat.gif
just bring your hdd. All others get it here, better specs than msia too icon_rolleyes.gif

I run a computer shop here which is why I can get cheap parts to send to Australia, may I know how the courier fees are like?

Can anyone recommend some accommodation for me? I'm going to the University of Melbourne, I'd prefer paying more and living a walking distance away from the campus. I do not know how to cook decent food for myself, should I go for RESIDENTIAL HALLS & COLLEGES or STUDENT APARTMENTS or STUDENT HOSTELS? Are the tuitions offered by the colleges any good?

Guys I'll be studying in Mel U Feb intake, any apartments to recommend for 3-4 people? Must be nearby Uni, fully furnished, preferably rental around 200-250 per person per week including utilities.
