in melbourne i stopped DL stuff for a long while to save bandwidth. go for streaming sites instead cause their inet is quite stable. can save a bit of bandwidth. another thing. tsm you go to deakin right? go look for the anime club. they have a large stockpile of anime/drama that you can borrow for free.

Can find other friends to do other stuff mah... Go do some boys-stuff... kick a ball, play some sports, go to the great outdoors... takkan everything stick with gf like glue... 小别胜新婚...

Some numbers might help.

Australian citizens do not need to pay their fees up front. It is called FEE-HELP, and let's say you want to do a B.IT. My university would charge you around $3700/semester. However, with FEE-HELP, you don't need to pay the $3700 up front. Sometimes called deferred payment. You only start paying back once you start working and your income hits $80,000/year (I think, unless they have changed the rules).

Australian PR's are not eligible for FEE-HELP. Every semester they would need to cough up $3700 to continue in their course.

And finally, international students, which most of us here are, would have to pay $10,500/semester for the same course, up front, and naturally you don't get any help at all.

PR's and citizens pay the same thing: its just that citizens only need to pay further down the road.

I've got a question here especially to those who are currently studying at RMIT Melbourne (not too sure if this is applicable to other unis). My situation is as follows: Recently AirAsia had a 20% discount promo, so I quickly asked my Head of Department as well as a travel agent who normally deals with students studying overseas and asked when I should fly. Both of them told me a week before the commencement of my course, so I bought the tix, and now, during the pre-departure briefing, my HoD told us a completely different thing.. that we have to depart 2 weeks before as the orientation and registration would be held 2 weeks before instead. -_____-

Undoubtedly I'm quite unhappy. So I checked online and the calendar DOES say that the orientation is 1 week before my course's commencement, and so I told my HoD about it and she told me it could be because us Malaysian students' orientation is separate than the rest etcetc which all doesn't sound entirely convincing to me.

So yeah, my question: in your experience when you first began your life abroad in Australia, does RMIT (or other Australian unis in general) hold the orientation & registration 1 week before or 2 weeks before?

Just wondering ... I have mailed ETI ( Education and Training International ) about course requirements. It seems that the Multimedia course doesn't need any Mathematics but only Year 11 graduation with passes in English. So I have called them and the same answer was given. I was wondering will I face any ''slimmer in getting into TAFE'' next year if I dropout Mathematics now in my Year 11. Any ideas?

actually no, living costs differ from person to person. for example if you inted to stay near curtin and get a single room expect rental to be at approx 150 per week, if you cant get curtin and have to go into places like como or south perth expect it to be higher. food too depends on  a person, i for one cant take cheap chicken rice so naturally my costs wouuld be higher then the norm.

however if you want the bare basics id say about 300 inc rent with somewhat social life.

im in curtin now and i plan to take masters, my course ave is about 58 (iknow its not high, so screw me) and i expect it to go up to 60 at the end of the sem. so how i have some problems

because curtin suddenly claimed that requirements are 65% which i was dumbfounded considering that their site and so on told me in black and white its 50 basically just a degree.

now im left out in the dark, ive called UQ, UWA and all are reluctant to give me any clear indication if i have anywhere to go. so what should i do, everyone tells me just to try it which i do want to however with such confusing thinsg here and there (like on one page its 50 then they tell me 65 then UQ's specialised GPA scale) i really dont knwo what to look up for.

can anyone tellme at least some personal experience to give me some ray of hope/?
