i already expected b4 i reach melbourne here..here is like 2nd malaysia..diff is here the ppl more friendly compare to malaysia(my opinion)

i would say u better go for temporary acc and look for acc at here..u can inspect yet u can process ur application immediately..or if u got any friends then u can stay thr for few days..n i dun think they will let u reserve place if find through agency..they mostly wan ppl inspect 1st then only can go for application..as short,no inspect=no application

i know wat ur feeling right now as i also asked many ques b4 i came here too..i found many places but yet need to go for inspection only can apply..sot some places no need to inspection but need deposit money 1st which i scared scam..in the end i m lucky tht i got fren can let me stay for 1 week n lucky too can found a place near my uni within the week..inspection when new semester coming is damn pack...thr will b around 20-30ppl for inspection

ya..n if the place u inspected is very nice yet cheap, then u will c all the ppl who go for inspection too quickly fill in application form at real estate office or on the spot while inspection..tht happens to me many times when i went for inspection..inspect half way de,nearly half of the ppl sit on the floor and fill the form =="

i found my place is when i pass by 1 apartment n got notice tht ppl wan rent out so i only can get it "peacefully"..lol

Yea,i just finished my final year and ive been lazying around and watchin YouTube for like almost all the time tongue.gif At the same time emailing agents and all that, asking for vacancies. Those places with cheap rents are taken, left those expensive ones  sweat.gif  i haven been on msn for like ages now. As a matter of fact,i haven been chatting online for so long already. Now that im on break,i should get back with my cyber friends before i get busy again smile.gif
Gosh...this is so competitive unsure.gif Well, im headed to Aussi with my parents,so,hopefully i get lucky .Earlier,i thought of booking online ,then pay deposit but then, like you said,i was worried myself, if it was some scam. So,i think going there a few weeks earlier would be ideal i guess.
*
is better if u come 1/2 weeks earlier to secure the place..

Any banks in Australia can clear any local bank draft instantly? since I want to deposit that bank draft when opening new account at Australia. Any limitation and how much local bank charge?  icon_question.gif
*
thr is no bank tht can clear instantly with bank draft...
it will need at least 2-3 working days to clear
n i dun think bank will charge u for bank draft..if got also few $$ like $2-5

but if TT then they will charge both sides..mine always get charged $17 per transaction shocking.gif

You only have to declare amounts above $10,000.  Even then, it won't be beyond a few questions if they see a student visa and a newcomer.

Otherwise, there is no way they'll know how much cash you are carrying into the country.  And truth be told, $3,000 is a small amount wink.gif

HSBC has an ATM access deal with Westpac so that is not a problem.  Otherwise, the occasions that you have to visit a branch is extremely limited.  In my 6 1/2 years I can count with 1 hand the number of times I had to visit a bank.  Almost everything can be done online or via the telephone.  A major advantage with not using the Big 4 banks is fees and customer service.  HSBC does not have fees for savings accounts plus have excellent customer service.

ya..last time i reach OZ also with around $3k cash without any prob..n need declare if above $10k

n CBA will b my choice to open acc coz is it so near to RMIT or located at RMIT building

Does the declare-above-$10,000 rule apply if I bring in a combination of bank drafts and cash? Just curious.

Mate, the ACS said so - amounts of A$10,000 or above, you gotta declare. ACS doesn't really consider how you perceive their system to be. You do as you are advised.

last time my gf came here with cash around $2k n another bank draft around $11k(is semester fees) also nvr declare n nth happen?

She was lucky.
If ACS officers had stopped her randomly on the way out, she would have been in serious trouble.
Never mess with ACS officers. They are friendly, but also dead serious with their responsibilities.
*
well thts i duno...i just know tht i got few frens(which i ask them today) also can pass through without declaring

but yeah,is no harm if just tick 'yes' if u r not sure about it...
