Try Edifier M1310... wink.gif

QUOTE(andrekua @ Feb 3 2009, 02:55 AM)
Edifier S2000.

There are many speaker worth mentioning which includes Aego2(M), ADA885, ACS48, MX5021, Z560, Promedia's and 641's. However, these are going to be history soon.
What about the JBL Creature thingy? brows.gif How come we don't see much of Harmon Kardon nowadays? hmm.gif

Jamo is like Klipsch... They are Hi-Fi speaker manufacturers.. The other real Hi-Fi folks are JBL and Harmon Kardon. brows.gif

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Mar 1 2011, 12:03 PM)
And it still sounds good?

I'm surprised because PC speakers work best within a very short distance like 2-3 feet, because anything further than that you lose a lot of details, dynamic range, clarity, bass, etc. And also because, PC speakers aren't even designed to drive sound to the whole room, what more for a distance of let's say 8-10 feet?
That depends on the output power (or wattage). Nowadays many PC speakers are not the tiny "multimedia speakers" of yesteryears. Many are already quite powerful (looking at the RMS wattage, not the marketing "PMPO" one). flex.gif

Not really. Power isn't the issue most of the time. Do note that speakers are optimized for "throw" meaning due to the inherent design, there is a sweet spot in regards to distortion and frequency response (maybe HTF) in regards to direction and distance. Getting to know the "field" of a pair of speakers is often more important than other characteristics.
As for the sweet spot thingy, there are also other considerations such as speaker design/hardware (especially the tweeters), speaker positioning, distance between the speakers, listening room characteristics, and amplifier matching. hmm.gif

QUOTE(empire23 @ Mar 2 2011, 11:14 AM)
You have very near fields like the Klipsch Promedia 2.0 Ultra, Bowers and Wilkins MM-1, Harman Kadons GLA-55 and so forth with very tight sweet spots of about 1 to 1.5 meters, with mid field compensated systems such as powered monitors like the M-Audio DSM3, the sweet spot extends to 2 to 4 meters. Knowing where to sit is crucial to knowing what you want  wink.gif
With certain high end monitors, sitting position isn't very crucial as those speakers have great transparency, expansive sound stage and stereo imaging (as well as literally can fill the whole room, and the sounds seems to be everywhere rather than from the speakers themselves). Notably System Audio ones have these characteristics. brows.gif

Generally the first parts will be factored in by the manufacturer and all have a configuration that delivers optimal performance. Plus most multimedia speakers are self powered and don't work with amps.
However depending on design, quite a number of "multimedia speakers" can interchange parts as well... such as the satellite speakers. Replacing a single driver (full range) with a 2-way driver (tweeter and mid-randge) can significantly improve the sound especially bringing out the highs. Of course, one criteria when changing speakers is impedance matching. hmm.gif

QUOTE(empire23 @ Mar 3 2011, 03:17 AM)
Positioning and so forth will depend on what the manufacturer wants from the speaker. Increasing the size of the soundstage and reducing directionality often increases distortion in certain harmonics and so forth. Much like any other form of engineering, not such thing as a free lunch lol.
I'd heard those SA speakers before, and I must say their sound stage is pretty accurate actually (can even tell and point out the direction/source of each sound) while filling the room (forward sounding). In comparison with others (e.g. the usual Mission, KEF, JBL, Harmon Kardon, etc), not even close to its performance. But the price of those SAs are out of my range. sweat.gif

notworthy.gif thanks bro..must survey..but the price around rm200 above? and what model i must buy if i want the altect lansing?i hear my frend tell me.the old model altect lansing so best than the new model..it is right bro?
You may want to try inquiring over here: Special Interest -> Home Entertainment -> Audiophiles -> Please Recommend... a 2.1 or 5.1 speaker set V4, Comparison and advice needed (PC Audio). Usually for RM200 above, my usual picks would be Edifier M3300 and Edifier M3400. Still, I would recommend testing the speakers first (at the shops) before buying since most people may have different listening preferences. wink.gif

I still love the MX5021 but about a year ago the sub woofer kaput. Speakers are still fine. Anywhere to get it fixed? Still keeping the unit. Soo sayang.
Legendary MX5021. You can try asking around Jalan Pasar's electronic shops (lots of them). Other than that, I could also try repairing it. Just PM me if interested. hmm.gif
