QUOTE(J'Daniel @ Jan 20 2009, 01:05 PM)
may I know what's difference between soft & hard reset ?
*
there's stg in n82 called User Data Preservation (UDP)
soft format - wipes out the application/themes etc installed in the phone but the contacts and sms-es are still there (thx to UDP)
hard format- wipes everything..juz like a new set that you got when u purchased the phone

clear?

those are dirt on the lens i assume
dead pixel looks like a black dot and can be seen under all situations
except mayb the particular screen if full black..then it would be harder to be located

I use factory reset which in NSS.

For the * + 3 + dial, no idea how use. lol
*
actually if there's someone to help u, it would be much easier
1. off ur device
2. u press and hold the "*", "3", and "call (green)" button
3. ask someone to power on ur device
4. wait until you see the nokia welcome screen (handshake)
5. release those buttons
6. if it asks you for language, time, date etc then you know you're doing it rite

try and let us noe if there's any problem icon_rolleyes.gif

nokia 6600 with the same method will go into "formatting".

For later s60 like n73 after pressing those keys will eventually ask for language etc etc.

Kinda like the self formating/troubleshooting the phone.
*
that's hard format..so yeah it's like formatting the phone

Using *#7370# also will go to step 6.
Is this the same as your step 2?
*
no it's not the same
there's a technology in N82 which is called UDP
if u use *#7370#, ur contacts, msges etc which are stored in phone is still available
however, applications installed in phone memory would be erased
this is wat we call as soft format
hard format..everything including ur contacts, msges etc would be erased
