hi I am looking to buy an old house around cheras area, but i am well aware as old houses have wiring issues. Since I am going to make some renovation of hacking walls and extension to the house, would it be wise to install new wiring for the house?? Someone here got experience for a 3k sqft dbl story semi-D like roughly you guys know how much is needed just for re-wiring??

new wiring - essential
new water piping - important for a 3k sq.ft hous, rewiring charges including lighting points, power sockets, around RM 5k - 10k. price vary due to many different factors new water piping is essential since most older houses use either copper or GI pipes. copper is still ok, but prone to leaks (pin hole cracks) while GI will cause slow water (blocked pipes) renovation? get professional help. since most old houses (esp pre merdeka) are built using english standards. lots of steel bars in the concrete, and the damn concrete is of very good quality, so it's hard. very hard. steel bar reinforcement corroding might be a big concern, so, perhaps u need extra reinforcement when doig renovation |

since u plan to renovate ur whole house which including wall hacking, just go ahead re-wiring for ur house (it is advisable to re-wiring to avoid any unnessacery work to re-do: after renovated and shift in, only found out wiring problem, then hack again?)
