Try to install it onto phone memory for faster performance, otherwise, it lags, and sound breaks up.

Firstly, Nokia offers 7 days free trial navigation for Nokia Maps. This is the so-called voice navigation which will prompt you with turn by turn directions. Activate it here. If you want to keep using it permanently for free, Google for the solution, I haven't found a way, not for the version that comes with the phone anyway

Secondly, the link I provided earlier was for the download of entire countries' maps. How Nokia Maps works is it will download "pieces of the map" as you move around. That is why they warn you about incurring heavy data charges if you are online. By downloading the maps offline, you don't incur data charges as you move around on the map. To test, before downloading the country map, try moving around from where you are in Malaysia to another state. You will notice the redraw is slow because the phone will be downloading the map details from Nokia's servers. Then download the entire country's map, and move around the country. You will see that the map redraw is almost instantaneous.
