Phew, finally caught up with the postings!!!

After reading the "millions" of postings here... just some comments...

For noobs... pls try to explore everything about ur phone first, tap on everything and everywhere first. Then it doesn't hurt to read the manual too. I noticed quite a lot of questions here could have been answered very very easily if you just explored everything/everywhere on the phone and/or read the manual.

Would just like to contribute some info about the famous sensor that shuts the screen off. Its called the "proximity sensor". When it senses something very close to it or something touching it, the sensor will shut the screen off. This sensor only activates when there is a ongoing phone call or when you are calling someone and waiting for the other end to pick up. This sensor serves 2 purpose. The main one is that when you are talking on the phone, you won't have to worry about your ears or face touching the touchscreen and activating something. The other purpose is to have a little bit of battery savings. After all, you can't really look at the screen while the phone is at your ear, so why not shut off the screen and save a bit of battery too?

The proximity sensor's location is between the light sensor and the front camera. Which is the light sensor, you may ask? It is the one next to the ear speaker. So, starting from left to right, it is the ear speaker/piece, light sensor, proximity sensor and then front camera. The light sensor you can see very clearly. The problem is, you can't really see the proximity sensor very well so a lot of pple may have missed it. You have to look at at the spot under strong light to spot the sensor. Its a rectangle shape.

Remember, this sensor only works in phone call mode and when there is something near or touching it (which would normally be your face or ear). So, if you happen to get a screen protector which covers this sensor... what happens? Everytime a phone call comes in or you are making a phone call, the screen will switch off before it is even near your face or ear. Result? You are thinking... "wtf??!! phone so fast koyak oledi ah?". Actual fact was that the proximity sensor was activated and then it sensed the screen protector and switched off the screen!

Another thing is about GPS in cars with vcool or other tinting. If you find that it is difficult to get a satellite lock when you first start up the GPS application, try to get a lock outside the car first then only get into the car. Otherwise, wind down the window and put the phone there (be careful, of course. Dun drop it or let other pple snatch the phone!!!)

As for the micro sd card provided... it of the "SDHC" type i.e. SD High Capacity. Most older PCs or laptops with older sd card slots cannot read SDHC cards. The most they can read are sd cards up to 2GB, which are not SDHC cards normally. SDHC cards typically start from 4GB and upwards. Even older external memory card readers may not be able to read SDHC cards if they are not SDHC capable. Solution? Just get a memory card reader which is SDHC capable.

Does anyone think that when listening to the phone (either music or videos) through the earphones, the sound not really loud enough? I have to max the volume baru boleh. That also just nice. But cannot go louder if I wanted cos max'ed liao! But if listening to pple talk during a call, the volume is ok.

I dunno the shop name. Its on the 2nd floor of LYP. The second shop on the right next to the going up escalator. You can see the SP's hanging on the rack.

Thanks a lot for the info bro! Is the protector the glossy type? What do you think of it so far?

Actually why bother with Ovi Suite at the moment? At the moment, the messaging features of PC Suite not in Ovi Suite yet. Just use one or the other. Apparently, Ovi Suite was supposed to replace PC Suite oledi but I think Ovi Suite development "belum matang" lagi. So while waiting for Ovi dept to solve whatever development issues, they updated PC Suite and continue to offer customers.

A lot of features of Ovi Suite, PC suite also have (except for "Ovi Share"). But Ovi Suite dun have the messaging features of PC Suite. So depends what is more important to you. Of course you can install both (some say they clash, some say no probs... I dunno). To me, I dun need ovi share, so i just install PC suite terus cos' of messaging features. I dun wanna install both as no point hogging my laptop resources with apps i dun need in the end.

Can any pro help to solve my important issue here? My phone keep showing the "Connection to WLAN network lost", and "Unable to connect WLAN, try again".

Is it possible that your wifi connection itself got problem? Connection problem (not surprising with streamyx) or maybe your wifi router got prob.? Have you tried surfing with ur laptop/PC or other phones with the same wifi connection?

Just some info for those wanting to get SP for the phone. Got mine at a booth/stall at Low Yat on 2nd floor yesterday. Its right next to the escalator with big NOKIA signage. The staff wearing some uniform with "VS Com" on their left shoulder.

Got it for RM18 and its the "Skool" brand. The SP got pre-cut lubangs for the earpiece, light and proximity sensors and the 3 keys at the bottom front of the phone. Glossy type. So far so good. Thanks to gaigene for the info on where to get it.

Thats why I say Nokia's 5800 launch here is pretty limited since the infrastructure (Comes With Music service) isn't available in Malaysia. If anyone here have followed the objective of selling Nokia 5800, that is to take on the online music market. This phone was supposed to be design together with Comes With Music to enable Nokia to compete with Apple.

Under the Comes With Music service, users of Nokia 5800 are given unlimited songs to download over a period of 1 year. The songs are free to keep after that period. This business approach is doable since you now buy handphones every year to have unlimited music downloads.
*
I wonder if this service is ever coming to malaysia. I think it will be coming soon to Singapore (if not available already). I think UK just got this service not long ago. Can you imagine unlimited downloads for 1 whole year?! Woohoo! Instead all we have is some shitty site with shitty choice of songs and this is assuming you got the correct voucher! Otherwise, if got wrong voucher, 100 songs only, and this is assuming you can ever get registered with this voucher in the first place! I am still contemplating whether to bother to try (i have the voucher which sez 100 songs only) or to bother to get it exchanged for the correct voucher or just let the voucher expire and rot in the box! haha!

Related question, if i bought my phone from atlantis and i want o exchange the voucher for the correct one, do I go back to atlantis or a NCC?

This is serious shit, bro! But first, before we speculate any further, check ur phone IMEI serial number to see whether still ur phone or they gave you back someone else's phone. Just key in *#06#. Compare the IMEI serial number shown on the phone with the sticker on your box. They should match. If not, they most likely gave you orang lain punya phone. Which would explain the changed code for reset. In which case, you should go back and make hell of a noise!!!
