Dear all sifus,

My 3G internet settings does not seems to work with my iphone 3G even though i've applied everything i've search at forum in regards to the 3g settings for celcom. hope you guys can shed some light to my problem.

When i switch phone to nokia N95, same sim card, celcom3g works like a charm

I called celcom careline for help. they referred me to the technical department after telling them i need the 3g internet settings for iPhone 3G.
they just told me to set APN to celcom3g and it should work.
Tried but to no avail.
told the officer it works with nokia N95 but not with iphone

the celcom officer then told me i might need to unlock my 3g sim card by using a device in order to use the unlimited data plan WITH IPHONE.

Up to now i still can't connect to internet using celcom3g.
Is it really need to use a device to unlock my sim card? is the sim card locked by default? by the way what is sim-lock?
What could be the problem?

iPhone is officially unlocked (Singtel) FW2.2, jailbroken
Previously maxis user, ported to celcom(last week), keeping my number 012-xxxxxxx
Subscribed to 3G unlimited data plan RM68 per month.

Settings
Settings - Network
Enable 3G [ON]
Settings - Network - Cellular Data Network
APN - celcom3g
Username and password blank
Data roaming (tested with both on and off)

That celcom officer must be ignorant by the fact that you have ALREADY successful using the phone with Maxis. Thus, there is NO NEED for unlocking the iPhone 3G.
In your case, you have confirmed that you are using officially Singtel set (although there times we need to verify this).

Yes, there are times, you are unable surf the Net with celcom 3G even tho' you can see the 3G signal.
All you need is to REBOOT the iPhone and surf the Net again. Somehow, the iPhone lost that 3G connection.
The only condition is to enable the "3G" which you have done that. (Can you see the 3G or E icon?)
Also you need to set the "celcom3g" APN (which you have done that too).

i oso using Singtel set.

no problem using celcom3g...
try leave all APN, username, pwd blank see can online not...

if u leave apn, user and password blank, can u surf the net?

ONLY leave username and password blank.

Have you tried rebooting?

Same thing happened to me when i first got the IPhone 3G.

Do you have Bossprefs or SBSettings installed? If yes then just make sure EDGE is enabled. Meaning that BOTH 3G and EDGE has to be enabled in bossprefs/SBSettings.

That was the reason i cant connect to a 3G network at first, in my case.

Rm68 package speed is 384kbps. I think rm99 package speed is faster maybe 1.5 to 2mbps

Just reset network settings.

That always happen to me whenever i'm using foreign prepaid sim cards abroad

i tot 3G is one speed nia?

3G speed is lower than 3.5G (HSDPA)

i ever encountered that b4... bcoz din take data pkg, so dare not try again...
