Any Doppelganger owner here?
Care to share on the experience of fold and unfold of Doppelganger?
*
helo n hi,
dis thread sure is alive n kickin thumbup.gif smile.gif
last time i checked i tot dis thread is goin to die
hehe laugh.gif
anyway
i do own a doppelganger
model 217 miragen

user posted image

bought at 1.5k from esybike in february
using (n abusing) it for almost everyday to n fro my house to ktm komuter station
n sometimes to my frens house in puncak jalil (ride from bukit jalil lrt of course)
and tried long distance from sungai petani-yan-kuala kedah-alor setar-jitra once

answerin ur question, mr ooikl,
well
dis baby can only fold into two
since its dropbar the handle cant be fold
only can be lowered (but its too muc of a task)
and cuz it has no magnet clip (like dahon)
u have to diy-ly cover de contact points
other than dat
no problem dat i can tink of bout folding
ah
got one mor
when i bought, it comes with no bag
so de first month i commute to work with ktm komuter
got conflict with ktm officer there
they insist i bagged my folding bike
and again the dropbar is de problem
since it cant be fold so its stil wide even de bike is folded
so small folding bike bag isnt enuf
luckily i found one dahon big bag
not sure for what model
but "quite" big enuf to "cover" it
i say quite big cuz if i realy have to bag my folding bike
hell i have to totally take out the dropbar and unrelease (luckily it has quick release...only front though) de front wheel then i can only zipped de bag fully
and carry it on my shoulder (dis miragen 217 is damn heavy.15kg standard stock.and it realy killing me to carry it on my shoulder)
but evriday normally i fold it into two n just cover everiting except de wheels
so i can stroll it like a baby stroller (like strolling a wheelchair if u wish)
n the lrt n ktm komuter officer seems ok with it smile.gif

about my miragen 217
my personal view
ermm...
cuz its only 1.5k
so u get what u paid for
cant realy complaint
it has 7 speed shimano tourney
with single speed 52t crank
enuf for urban/street ride i guess
v-brake rear disk brake front both by promax
after quite sometime my front disc rotor is bent
cud be im too hard on it tongue.gif
otherwise they just ok
doppelganger may be big and a brand from japan
but mind u de bike made in china
i guess evriting is pretty muc made in china nowadays

hell am i ranting too muc? tongue.gif
gonna post some pics later
and rants some more tongue.gif
cheers

Nice one bro  rclxms.gif

I like ur cats...  tongue.gif  biggrin.gif damn sibuk those fler..
one llicking  chain... haha..

how is the suspension? Can feel? Bouncy??
*
QUOTE(etigge @ Jul 3 2013, 04:58 PM)
20inch front suspension fork has only 50mm travel. In fact I am looking for RST Capa T which is a kiddie mountain bike suspension fork for 20 inchers. Hard to find. Haaizzzzzzzzz.  rclxub.gif  The Magura HS 33 are nice  thumbup.gif  It is actually a hydraulic cantilever brake. First came out in the late 2Ks. Stlll in production.
*
haha thanx tongue.gif
sori bout those kitties in da photo
they realy are nosy
u halau one away three is coming
u halau the three the one u halau before is coming ady
haha

anyway
bout de suspension
can feel but not much
well
for normal road/street use myb it do helps absorbing litle potholes n bumps here n there
but then i tink im fine even tho thers no suspension front or back
bouncy?
nope.they arent
but they make ur bike heavier
mine is 15kg.heavy as hell
and some more thers no replacements if u broke em
20" front suspension fork is like aliens
they sure are exists but yet anybody to find them
hell they might not even exists shakehead.gif
but then u can owes replace it with rigid fork
rear suspension? broke em?
u might as well to buy another bike sweat.gif

magura
my brake is 2005-2011 model
but thers latest 2013 model
mine actually is for 1 inch flat handlebar
pull out de grip n slide the handlebar into de hole
cuz mine is dropbar so it actually stuck at the dropbar curve even i took out the bartape ady
i forcefully pull it through only later to find out dat i cant screw to tighten it back
cuz the screw hole is "lari" ady doh.gif
hell its such a mess
i end up using a cable tight
hehe
but the 2013 model use faceplate mechanism
i tink dat shud fit to any size n any type of handle bar without any hasle
anyway dis magura is great
working great
looking great too
before dis i had a thought to convert rear into disc brake system
i tink i'll settle for dis magura
de only problem is they are prety expensive
spare parts n accessories of magura range can source them from singapore
magura not realy popular among malaysian i guess

Bro Ettige,
is there any mini velo MTB? Full sub?
*
QUOTE(etigge @ Jul 4 2013, 04:21 PM)
A velo is a race bike and mini velo means a mini racing bike, so I doubt there's a full sub mini velo as as there's no full sus road bike.  tongue.gif  I might be wrong but I think I am right. HAhaha.
*
agree with that
im yet to found any full-sus mini velo
unless if 217 miragen can considered as mini velo
hehe
or if u want a proper folded mini velo
myb u can consider this

dat "mini velo mtb" sure is a confusing terms laugh.gif
haha
i tot u meant a mini velo or a mini mtb
it turns out to be both
a mini velo with mtb thingy
hell dis things even exists hmm.gif
anyway we can owes buy a mini velo and custom made it into mtb,no?
20" mtb tires,check
mtb grupset,check
riser/flat handlebar,check
20" suspension front fork, dis one kinda tricky,de one in de photos is spinner grind
im not aware thers such thing
anybody have a hand on this please let me know, too tongue.gif
rear shock,not possible
i tink one can owes custom made aniting to fit their riding style
so-so offroad can lar
if real offroad
i tink u'll ditch de 20" rite away
hehe
unless if u're hardcore 20inches
im aware thers 29ers whose proud of being n having de 29inches mtb and f*** evriting dat isnt 29inches
is thers such thing as 20ers? hmm.gif

QUOTE(budgee @ Jul 8 2013, 11:08 PM)
You are so right, in the matters of the butt.

At first, I did not adjust the position of the saddle and just went for a long ride on the new bike.
After a while, I had a painful ass which took some time to go away.

The next time, I carefully checked how I could adjust the position of the saddle and found that I could turn the seat post 180 degrees  to turn it around so that the saddle can be positioned as near to the handlebars as possible.
I had to take out the saddle, turn it around and screw it on again as it was facing backwards.

But when I tried a short ride, it just felt so much more comfortable than the almost crouching position of the new bike without adjustment.  Now I felt like my weight was more on the "meat" of the butt rather than the two lower bones under my butt, if you get what I mean.

This improved position helped but it did not completely removed the soreness after a long ride.
So I had two options:  1) change the saddle to something more comfortable or 2) buy padded pants.

As the padded pants were not cheap, I decided to look at another saddle and found what is a godsend gift for relieving painful butts, a Royal Gel saddle from MBShop....  Selle Royal brand.  This was easily the most valuable buy for my bike and it did not cost too much, surprisingly as it was made in Italy.

Now I could enjoy long rides comfortably.

ah, de sadle issue
well
when i first got on my bike i oso got same problems
got pain evriwhere
back, butt, thighs, calfs, arms, neck and "lil' bro" oso pain rclxub.gif
just naturally, i curse evriting on de bike
hard sadle, lack of gearings (7 speeds), narrow tyres, stupid long reach n low dropbar, stupid suspension doesnt do aniting...bleh...bleh...bleh...n so on
hell i wanna change evriting
but after two weeks or someting
no pain ady
without changin aniting
so my conclusion is myb it is my body dat is not used to cycling
or myb its just me

and also when i do my last cincai touring
i tot im gonna get pain whole body after doing 100somting km
suprisingly i didnt icon_rolleyes.gif
later dat night i can still cycle aroun jalan2 cari makan around alor star town
hehe
only one thing tho
cuz so cincai cycling with jeans
my kangkang got blister (only notice when i take shower at hotel)
n my underwear got one big hole
fortunately just one underwear casualties.phew

so dats y my bike still standard stock (apart from de rear brake tongue.gif)
de kenda kwest kinda want to botak ady
gotta change later before raya hopefully
so i can do myb litle touring dis raya
hehe
i tink my bike can take 1.95
before dis i eyeing de schwalbe big aple
but then after i read samo's blog
im considering of maxxis dth
i dono
myb afte i change ill report back to yall
now is to find dat dth
hmmm hmm.gif
gotta ask samo

Others he and wife use their new Terns. Don't know about the Speed P8 and the MU 16 inch.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Heh, heh, Today was a very very wet morning.   I had bought a rain coat which is actually some plastic long pants and plastic jacket with a hood.   So with the rain not stopping, I just slowly cycled to work...  not bad, not bad, I quite like cycling in the rain...  its cool but if you start sweating, then the plastic rain wear will be a sauna, so I just take it very very easy and slow...

Would you cycle in the Rain??
*
i dont mind gettin wet by de rain
i'll only put the backpack raincover on n im gud to go
if rain only ok la
if got thunder boom boom i tink i'll wait

QUOTE(H2D @ Jul 10 2013, 12:01 AM)
no wd-40 is not a degreaser.
i haven't used the chain cleaner yet.

i think u better read reviews online before purchase the thing,
cos some said that the device will make things worst.

search in youtube got many videos.  biggrin.gif
*
ah
i had a confession to make
i use wd40 to clean n to lubricate de chain oso sweat.gif
huhu
but i didnt use brush tho
im using a baju buruk to clean all de grease
before dis i only clean de grease using some sabun i dono what
found it in kitchen cabinet
n afte clean i didnt use any lubricant
cuz im using ktm komuter n bagged it in de bag
so i don want de grease to kena anywhere (i tot it was a gud idea back then)
or else de ktm officer got points to not allow me bring de bike
but then after a while
de crank feels tighter(not in a gud way) n heavier
need mor effort to cycle than normally do
so i guess i still need to lubricate em chain
haizzz
why wd40?
errr
its written there it can lubricate
n cuz its kinda cheap oso (i tink dis is de main reason, hehe tongue.gif )
those who want cheaper can use singer oil, hehe
n somemore it is spray type wit de long stick nozle
convenience n no mess thumbup.gif
i only meant to use it as a lubricant at first
but then when i spray at the chain
all de grease come off
hell dis is gud
2 in 1 eh?
but of course
dis is only me
a cincai guy
n de chains, cranks, freewheel is all cheap bodoh one only
if use highend grupset
myb i'll use a proper degreaser n lubricant
hehe

i bought it from johny's of my bicycle shop bandar utama thumbup.gif hehe

and
de "knog blinder road front" price is actualy MYR 229.00
but got 5% discounts (i tink any shop u go got 5% discounts for knog brand)
making it MYR 217.00 or somtin (dono where i put de receipt ady sweat.gif )
bought it from spv bicycle of subang jaya
dis shop i know from samo's post about the speedone sor mini mtb (from de "mini velo mtb" issue tongue.gif )
i check out their website n find out dey got dis knog brand
actualy i want to buy dis knog glove
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Change to thinner tyre whereas I want to change to big fatter tyres.... he he.

My bike comes with Schwalbe Kojak, really botak and smooth but with high pressure, it can get sometimes to be a bit bumpy.

I am hoping that if I change to fatter tyres like Big apple or Maxxis DTH, the ride quality would be more comfortable...
*
hmm
i tink tyres wideness depends on ones riding style
from dis two days of riding with dth
yes, it does absorb minor small bumps/potholes/roads unevenness
de ride is more comfortable than befor
more stable
but
the trade for dat comfortable is de ability to sprint
it takes a litle bit extra effort than before
but then
i didnt do a lot of sprinting anyway
so i dont mind at all
im not a racing kaki hehe tongue.gif

befor dis i kinda fancy schwalbe durano
but it doesnt come in wide size
for those who want narrower tyre can try dis one
if more racing can use schwalbe kojak tongue.gif
then from my reading
i learn dat for those touring kaki they use schwalbe marathon
for durability n long lasting
then i knew bout balloon tyre schwalbe big apple n big ben
im eyeing big apple at first
but then comes samo n his maxxis dth
so now im also a "dth"ers
dth"ers or dth"ian?
hell is ther such words?haha tongue.gif

and also when i do some research for de tyres
things to consider is the fork wideness/clearance
racing type tend to have narrow clearance thus not able to fit wider tires (ie;minivelo)
and also rim types
20" rims got two types
406 and 451
normal 20" bike usually is 406
451 is a rare case (n even harder to find the tires for it too)
de rims usually standardised by etrto(euro tyre rims standard thingy or somting)
so any tyres wide or narrow can fit to it
i too use to worry bout this cuz my rims are double walled and looks so narrow
thank god they fit each other nice n firm
or else...
or else im doomed doh.gif haha

n bike tires itself is a headache too
thers many choices of 20" bikes of any wideness
the narrowest is i tink schwalbe ultremo zx 20x0.9 (dis is what?superduperextreme racing?haha)
and de widest im not so sure
are there 20x3.0 tires?(y wud anybody wants one anyway? tongue.gif )
its too many choices rclxub.gif
everiting is available online
but r they available locally?
dats de problem
so

u may just forget n ignore everiting i said
n take ur bike to bike shop (those mentioned in dis thread preferably)
kautim tongue.gif
can or canot
got or not
pomen can tell u rite away (or not; cuz some pomen not used to 20" or folding bike.dats y i said go to those shop mentioned in de thread.u might want to read dis thread from start.or myb not.myb just read from january dis year tongue.gif )

but then
i cud be wrong
cuz like "mini velo mtb"
hell i dont even know such things exists
haha

its somtin like dis

n voila
mirror in riding mode

mirror in store mode
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

actualy i made it two of them
from front n rear reflector
for left n right mirror
but i lost one during de cincai touring
only notice wen comeback to kl doh.gif aiyak!
for urban use i find dat mirror is very important
important to not need to look ur back everitime want to change lane or turning into any junction
or to see whats coming from behind either motocycle or car or bus or watever
n some mor cuz mine is dropbar so to look back everytime is bothersome
ther r posibilities of getting neck cramp too rclxub.gif
hehe

I got some things from Daiso, all RM 5 each, got the tyre repair kit with 2 tyre levers, bells, lights-front and rear, .   Quite worth it , think a lot of Japanese ride bicycles, so maybe  that's why they stock these things.

But definitely no cycle computers there.
*
daiso
yep
i bought kinda lots of bike thingy from daiso too
well
its mostly tools actually
bike wrench, allan key sets, tyre levers, rear lights
ermm...what els...botle cage/holder, batteries
but
i will not rekomends front lights from daiso
i bought one n broke the light mounting by just overtighten it (wtf? doh.gif )
de plastic material is rubbish
but front light for 5 ringgit
i cant complain
guilty on my parts too
haha sweat.gif

n talking bout tires
cuz my footpump de pressure gauge is broken ady
so i dont realy know if de dth is in optimum condition
johny got mentioned its a high pressured tyre
so i go to petrol station air pump (hoping to get a reading from the air pump gauge)
de night befor googled bout using de petrol station air pumps for bicycles
it is realy not recommended (but stubborn me still go anyway tongue.gif )
i purposely ask for schraeder valve tube from johny last time cuz i find its more universal n more compatibility than presta valve (in dis case compatible with petrol station air pump "nozle/head")
from de net i know dat dis dth can withstand until 110 psi (i wonder if de tube can stand 110 psi too?)
but when i go at the pump the gauge ony show kpa and (another unit i fogot...lbf/inch? i tink so)
check de tyre luckily it got kpa unit oso (phew sweat.gif )
written ther 585-755 kpa
then i pump de tyre
it took just one second (seriously shocking.gif no kidding...or myb not even 1 second!) n de dial shot up to 400-500 kpa ady
i check my tyre n its rock hard...no sh*t
then pump de other one (dis time kinda scared tho...haha sweat.gif )
then i cycle away
with rock hard tyre can sprint easily (dis is nice icon_rolleyes.gif )
but then road surface is tranfered directly to u (dis is not nice shakehead.gif )
i quickly stop over at roadside n release some air from tyre
only then de dth is eating potholes n bumps for breakfast again...yay! thumbup.gif
hehe
i tink gonna invest in some tyre pressure gauge
petrol station air pump is scary sweat.gif
haha

cheers

Why would u want a kenda. It is not even kenda kwest. According to the shop, he ask me change fast fast cause this is the lowest end tyre. Just curious.

I have the standard schwalbe Kojaks which came with the bike. its 20 x 1.35 and its very fast and light.
But I don't how much the tires cost.  Perhaps about RM60 to 80.

I also like the Maxxis dth, which is about rm80 each. but this is 20 x 1.95,  very fat.

the Schwalbe Big apples are 20 x 2.00, even fatter...

which means heavier and slower compared to Kojaks...
*
say 1.50 is de medium as a benchmark
thin>speed
fat>suspension (but mine got suspension front n rear ady...am i too greedy? tongue.gif )

if not available locally
then got no choice
have to online
pricier mayb
but if can afford y not
for peace of mind tongue.gif
hehe

(me too got few things wana buy online...perhaps in nex couple of months...hehe...will update tongue.gif )

Some shop said this tyre is actually kenda kwest and ask why would I change as this tyre is quite good. Now I am confuse. The tyre didnt state it is kenda kwest though. So I wonder which bicyle is true. Hmmm
*
mine used to be kenda kwest
but when i look at de pic of ur ugo
i find out its a bit diferent
cuz from urs can see somting like "love" shape
so i do litle bit of googlin
dat is not kwest
its kenda k909
i found it at kenda website under de wheelchair (deheck? sweat.gif ) section
googlin a litle bit more
n found dis
kenda k909a 20x1.75
hehe
dono its nice onot
but personaly for me i find it nice lookin tho (cuz i like fat tire...hehe tongue.gif )
anyway
i tink kenda kwest oem is not realy dat good
from de pic urs look nicer than my kwest
same like de oem tubes de oem kwest is lower grade than non oem kwest
so dat y some said kwest is gud n some dont
but since u want thinner tyre change it anyway tongue.gif hehe
