I m currently looking at foldie.
Wondering about the gearing issue here and need some advice.

what does it mean when a foldie comes with 37" - 73" gearing?
And what about 32"-93" gearing?

Met up with AhPek Bikers and his friends. We rode from Royal Selangor Club (Bukit Kiara) -> Kiara Hills -> TTDI -> 1U -> Bukit Utama -> Sprint Highway -> Uptown -> TTDI -> Kiara Hills -> RSC (BK)

It was an exciting ride for me. The hills are tough. The downhill is fast. I managed to clock 48km down and I feel the bike is stable. I didn't know there are such shortcuts via bikes.

Definitely will go for more such rides...

May I know what's bicycling app did u use ? I really like the km markers on the map.

To avoid all those cost of upgrading, get 16 speed minimum. No headache thinking of upgrading the gears. It can climb, can go fast too.

I think they quoted u all the higher end parts that's y so exp!
what r u riding at the moment bro?
I myself am looking for the 34t wan but with no luck so far sad.gif

Riding dahon eco c7. Limited top speed, that's why looking for 11t. And sincei intend to upgrade, might as well improve climbing ability as well. So 32t might be a good option.

I did found a few at Amazon.com for usd 20+ without shipping!

but I just dropped by the shop where I bought my bike n he said scared mega range might not shift as smoothly.. hmm.gif
what's the highest gear then?
my boardwalk d7 is 11 - 30t so I guess u could try n use that? top speed is okay for me but I'm having a hard time climbing air itam dam, supposedly the least steep hill in pg for mtbking doh.gif
*
Thanks for your info. Look like boardwalk 11-30t is a good substitute for 14-28t for eco7. Btw, is your boardwalk freewheel o cassette type? 7 speed as well?

Buy n ride. 16 speed o up would be good cuz it save u from any gear upgrade. Most can upgrade to double crank, but it cost more money.

My personal experience to share. I ride xds afb 320, 16 speed, n dahon eco c7 (planned to upgrade in future).
By comparison, eco c7 has better riding position as in longer reach. More solid handlebar. Down side is the gearing is lousy n without disc brakes.

Xds is all good in stock condition, only down side is the not so solid ride, but still acceptable. Ride is too bumpy cuz of skinny tyres.

Probably thinking of a full suspension foldie ie dahon jetstream p8. Anyone here riding 1?

If you change your brakes to Avid V-brake and levers, it will improve. You can find them in BBS or if you want them I can give you a contact. The Avid SD3 brakes and levers should cost about RM110 for both front and rear. The originals from Dahon Eco C7 are too flexy! The newer Dr.Hons are even worse. Their quality are similar to those China made bicycles.

As for disc brakes, it a bit hard to fold with hydraulics and as for mechanical disc brakes..........errr I will stick to v-brakes. A good v-brake stops better than a mechanical disc brake. In fact a lot of touring bikes use v-brakes for their ease of maintenance.

There's 2 Dahon jetstreams for sale at present in BBS. Check them out.

Pls don't poison me too much. Not going to discuss about disc n v brake as both r good s long s they can stop the bike.

What's the cheap way to upgrade the gearing for eco c7 to 11-32/34t again?
