I contacted Chin Aik and he said cant use Big Apple as the tires r too wide for Dash P18 frame. He recommended Marathon (20x1.5) and said d ride quality will improve significantly compared with my Kojaks. Will it? He quoted RM120 for a set.

You can fit it in but you have to take out at least one side of the brake pads. My 1.95 can't come out of the gap of the brake pads. Even after releasing the noodle of the brake cable. 

It's already 8 speed so I am sure you don't want to downgrade to 7 speed. So, when you change  the front to triple crank rings, it becomes another 3 speed in front. 3 speed front multiply by 8 speed at the back equals 24 speed. Usually for foldies, it is hard to accommodate a triple crank rings because of the front derailleur adapter but I have yet to try. I have a triple but I bought a 2 speed FD, so I took out the granny ring(smallest). But so far, with a 52T/42T the crank rings coupled with the 9 speed at the rear, it's enough, even for Fraser's Hill. There is a 50T/34T crank ring  which is even better for uphill! 

The 27 speed you see in foldies is usually coupled with a 3 speed internal hub gear rather than a triple crank ring, so the front remains a single crank.

It's the FD limitation. 2 speed and 3 speed differs. Also my the FD adapter is already at the top most part already, can't go higher as there's a welded brace there on the frame. If you can find the clamp on type, I think 34.9mm and also for 3 speed, probably you can use all three rings but I am not sure.

With the budget of under RM1.5k, will u go for Tern C7, Java Fit or Dopperganger 211 assault or Dahon Broadway?
