I do a lot. Usually every Wednesday evenings. This is the route. I usually cycle by the lakeside, there's a specially made pedestrian and bicycle lane all along the route. Nice view too! thumbup.gif

If you ride just the island itself without crossing the bridge, it's only 11.5km.

Yes, it will be nice to ride there on Sunday mornings too! But my guess would be that it will be full of cyclists during that time.

OIC, I thought it would be like what I see in FRIM and Bukit Kiara, so packed with people, cyclists, joggers, hikers, nature lovers, young ones, old ones..

Go Hong Kong and buy. Get yourself a free trip there as well as the price is cheaper by almost 2K there for the basic model.  Use the 2K as travelling and hotel expenses. For Brommies, what is a few K lah! Sap sap sui. rclxms.gif

OR check this page for local sourcing,

Popular time for cyclist in Putrajaya is Wednesday nights (not evening), Saturdays and Sundays BUT they don't ride on the bicycle lanes rclxub.gif Some do but mostly ride on the main thoroughfare because nobody can admire their bikes when they ride on the inside cycle lanes! Heheheh. nod.gif

Why are you changing your rims? Yes, that's 24 hole but you won't find it locally! sad.gif Our local bike stores or rather the main importers don't import just rims, those who brings in 20 inches are usually the whole wheelset. ( Hubs, spokes and rims, all assembled). Also not many local bike stores can lace and true a wheelset properly.

As for cost, it can run to 1.5K for a Kinetix to a few hundred for the Weinman D17 with Novatec sealed bearing hubs. If you have contacts in USA, maybe you can check out wheelsets for recumbent bikes and it's usually sized 406. There are actually many types, it just that it hard to find it locally.

I see many 20 inches rims in Taobao and very cheap too but have no confidence in ordering them. So, I rather pay more to see the product first before getting it. I paid RM450 for my Weinmann D17 with Novatecs. When I got it, the lacing seems OK but when I rode for the first time, the rims ran out of true. It seems the person who laced it winded tight on one side and loose on the other. I have to loosen every spoke and adjust all over again. So, be prepared to pay for re-truing the wheelsets. Sometimes, the dishing is out, means the rims are not centered to the bike frame. This affects the V-brakes.

If you are looking for nice wheelsets, I have posted one in the earlier comments. Johnny (MY Bike Shop) sold 2 sets already and there's still another set left. icon_rolleyes.gif

agree with you, local bike shop is hard to get such rim.... thats'y i thinking to get a pair spare (litepro) from TB but i jz wanto confirm the holes size and i also have checked, it is on 406 size.... so what other things i need to check to ensure i order the right rims... some say v-brake and disk-brake rims are diff. is that true ??

and lets say for example, can i reuse bk the hubs if the rim somehow crack or spoil ? local shop can do the spokes if i have my own spare rims ?? sweat.gif

Love the bicycle lanes there. I covered 12km but calories burnt not as much as 8xx ler.
Last night I cycled behind Proride Leslie from his shop to the top of Puteri Hill about the same mileage covered like Putrajaya but a lot of uphill. Now lembik dy

There's another last pair left at My Bike Shop in Bandar Utama. Look for Johnny. You can get the spare tubes there as well. Johnny only sells Kenda inner tubes. Cost slightly more but I think it's OK.

Yes if you have the rims, it can easily be replaced and the old hubs reused. Disc specific rims has no machined brake track on it. SO it cannot be use on a bike with V-brakes. As for disc brake setup bikes, you can actually use both kind of rims. smile.gif
