Well, I have seen and heard many people played Dota and was so addicted, they would willing to skip lunch just to play it for an hour. Well, I would like to know what makes this game so captivated. From the look of it, its exactly like Warcraft3 and I dont really know about the gameplay as I never tried it before. Can it be played offline? Maybe you all will think that I a super noob for asking this question but I just want to know what make this game so captivating. If I ask my friend, their opinion will be seriously biaised as they are all practically drink dota, eat dota and sleep dota.

i am too, seeing some of my friends get so addicted to it... while i don even know a single monster in the game. and to tell u that, i don think your question is noob =)

why don u ask your friend to have s3x with Dota, see if they can actually do it or not...

What is s3x? Well, Dota is so freaking famous, i thought by asking why its so famous, people will think that I am a noob. There are even competition for Dota and I heard that some competitors are thinking of playing Dota for a living. Can survive? I seriously dont understand.

It's only popular in Malaysia, Singapore...It consumes low resource, you don't need to have decent specs and connection speed to play this game. That's why it suits and applicable here, LOL.

I'm wondering the same thing too.. those ppl getting too excited & addicted with it, just like last time when RO was a hit.
That time my college fren even talking about RO whole class, most worst he even telephone back home to ask his lil brother how is the bot used in RO doing..& the most funny case is, he told me dunno what the lecture is talking about. WTF !

Even at my workplace, i'm still everyday listening to my colleague talking about DOTA, dota here dota there, 2nite go where dota...etc

Tried DOTA before, but not really that enjoying for me.

Freaking wicked, friend. Macam ini pun boleh I think they are neglecting their GF due to excessive dota. Will contracted STD if having s3x with Dota due to multiple partners. Ha ha ha ha.

Maybe if you ask why the dotA fan like dotA, he'll say: Don't know, I just follow my friend/Many people play so I play...

I still can't get my common sense around it. Yes yes it is a fast paced mix-and-mash of so called "recipes" for a weapons that each of the players have to decide before the game start, and then ?

Like during the heyday of CS, DOTA continue to bring out the stupidity of some players, that's all I can see. When this falls, next game will continue the vicious cycle, continue to make me facepalm.

Then,they grind and grind,occasionally,they will have some really fun gang bangs or someone harassing them.Till they beat the Throne or World Tree.It's kinda fun in it's way but the stupidity of the majority of players make the game sux and stupid.

I'll probably wait for Demigod then.It's Stardock's games too so no DRM.

I used to play this game for 3 months.... just like any other game, it gets boring over time...

Thats is what 'they' will tell you. I think Dota is popular here since its simple to pick up and play...no deep mechanic to make it complicated...and it has the same grinding quality of a crappy Asian MMO that we Asian seem to like

It is RPG/RTS lite...lite to the max...I don't think there is anything much RTS in it at all...There are other games that are taking similar approach that should proof much better than DoTA itself.

dota.... i used to be a dota n00b... played for few months, coz my friends all cant play COD4, GRID and stuff... so i teman them play dota..

i had to say its very addictive, especially when you time all your attacking and defensive moves, lure enemies to your team's trap (gang bang) and kill them all... its all about teamwork

but i dont get addicted to it because i still love COD4 GRID and other games...
Dota.. is nice to play when you master the game, and it require alot of undertanding about the game and fast thinking

Addictive on start.
Get boring when you keep on playing for days..
Trust me.
When you like "1st Blood" then you just want to keep on traning for more..
Then when someone better then you feel like quiting or more traning.

i saw sumone posted that he 'came' playing dota...

lol was addicted to it back then but I already stopped playing it for like 14months?? lol guess it isnt that addictive at all...

Why? Because dota require whole lot less skill to play. And there are always chance a low lvl player can actually dominate the game(Hmm.. yay a monster kill, makes me wanna play more) . It is a game you can pick up quickly. Try play this game 1 on 1 or high lvl team match(i find it stressful and no fun, one mistake by one person = HAM KA CHAN!"whole family die"). If you lose, you can always blame the team (eg: WTF, NOOB team feeder). The disappointment of being outskill/outmatch is not there. So people keep on playing.

Well there is also customization(uniqueness) the way they play the hero, items, heroes skills. The joy of lvling without having to grind. Also the gameplay by relieving constant direct pressure. (Eg. Farming some creep for some gold instead of constantly engaging with the enemy). This is because you are not always not constantly threatened.

Tell me who don't like godly equipments in MMORPG? It is like the best of pvp in RPG without its weakness.

The problems with RPG, your view of your teammates are certainly very limited. With the strategy genre platform, it allows teamwork to a higher level.

Also there is the joy of GANG BANG.

Also, Dota doesn't feel repetitive. << very important.

Anyway, i'm bored of dota. Next game pls.

Most ppl get addicted because of losing.For instance ur friend forces u to play with him dota which is ur first time and he wins.U will have the urge to continue playing to train to defeat ur friend.Sooner or later dota will become an addiction which is hard to stop.Dota also kills time.Playing for a 60 minute match feels like 10 minutes only.

I use to play dota and got addicted. Just uninstall it. That's what my family do.

i start playing dota ver 5.84C till 6.58 i got addicted 2 it ones but i now i am woking dont have the time 2 play. just can play on friday night n sat night at CC and will be fun 2 have friend to form a team of five

before this i hate it when seing my frens play
but the first time i play, OMG i need to learn how to kill those heroes

Sounds like me at the beginning. I'm a fan of Starcraft but when my cousin influence me 2 yrs back, im dota fan now! lolx...

IMO, its interesting becos of fast pace game and can GB hero.. the killing part is the nicest part as at the end, u wanted to know how many u got kill and to be GODLIKE....lolx..

Nevertheless, i hate this game when got feeders, leavers, and lcly players...

Sdneng mode is so addictive, u didnt know which heroes u will, end up playing different heroes everytime
