OK. Some important technical info for 4g18p Waja owners

Don't take it for granted. though all 4g18p waja from yr 2001 to 2005 shares the same engine and product code, the electrical wiring DIFFERS. this is so true, depending on the location of ECU and the wiring harnessess

there are 3 configurations - one with ECU in the engine bay (1st gen), one under the air-con duct (2nd gen) and one behind the glove box (3rd gen)

after my series of unfortunate electrical incidents, i came to find out (actually, EON manager explained to me) that mine is the 3rd gen 4g18p waja (2005). the wiring harnesses is nowhere the same as the previous two generations

1st and 2nd gen 4g18p has one long and thick wire harness while the 3rd gen has a "LEFT" and "RIGHT" harness. my LEFT harness, which is the transmission harness burnt out.

so, guys. lesson leanrt; anything regarding electrical is expensive to repair. very very expensive.

and earlier 4g18p WAJA varies a LOT from one another!

Walao....Engine died when starting and cold... Even the car is running... Rpm straight drop till engine died when neutral... Or what we called "free gear" ... My car is manual... The engine died when I press the clutch... So dangerous... What happened?

I guess yes..My satria 1.6 comes with stock front strut bar..1 day try remove it suka2 n it felt diff.. sad.gif

Go check for MUT reading...Same problem like me before..Maybe dirty TB or MAF sensor loose..Got any ECL light up??

can sifu brief me what is MUT reading? my waja having this issue also, i'm using auto tranny by the way, in the morning, sometimes when start the engine in the morning, the timing drop down after the auto chocke end, the timing drop very low, when i change gear to D or R, the engine died, sometimes the engine just died after the auto chocke, i have to rev few times to prevent the engine from died, err, something like that

for 4g18 Waja owners, do you have the problem of loud engine noise in the back passenger area? i having this problem lol. the engine is very loud in front but even worst at the back.

I had a similar problem today. Went to fix my car siren, the guy added a relay. After that, everytime I start, it's like its about to die. Even when driving, when I hit the breaks, it dies.
So sent it to a workshop and I think he reset my ECU, now its back to normal.

clean your throttle body and re-tune, change ur fuel filter.

If u want to save cost, then when start ur engine do not switch on ur aircon or engage gear, let the rpm drops only engage gear and switch on aircon.

MUT = Multi Use Tester

i bet ur steering is vibrating when idling, if it true, then ur engine mounting end of life. Remember to change all 4 mountings if u wan it to last long, any brand will do.

Is it ECL will be light up each time we want to start the engine? And the ECL will lid off after some time...Between it is a bit weird with my car, when I am taking round about and if the petrol in my tank is left with one line display at meter there, It will drop till the petrol warning light up... And when turn back to straight road, it will kick like there are no movement for my car... Means when I press the oil pedal , the car don't see like move for a while then normal back... What cause that? Petrol not enough problem? TB is fuel injection thingy?

About the fuel pump problem,i was suggested by my mech that waja fuel pump is quite sensitive..Don't let until the low fuel indicator light up..

aliftaufiq, you are right. the waja 4g18's fuel pump is very sensitive.
we need to maintain a 'save' amount of fuel inside the tank all the time.
refueling when the low fuel indicator turn turn will shortened the fuel pump's lifespan. i am a lil worry about mine too. sweat.gif

heck! it will easily cost over 400 bucks.
