I am trying to convert some music videos in .avi format to H.264 & .M4A format which can played on iPhone. But which setting is the best one for quality, if size is not an issue? Anyone here have experience?

use quicktime select iphone is most easy way to convert video.

u must tick the check box of video in itunes in order to sync the video

i use 640x480 (maximum for iphone)
why, due to the phone got optional cable output to TV,
resolution too low will be crap on tv
another reason lower the resolution dont save much space on compression,
for convert, use
mediacoder for avi ->mp4
handbrake for dvd ->mp4

i'm trying vio converter now as recommended by one of the members here...not bad....

previously use videora not so good..big file size....
or maybe i dunno how to set using videora...

but vio converter looks ok... in terms of file size...no chance to upload to my itunes and test yet....me now trying a few video framerate...see which one is optimum...

My favorite video converter is DVD Catalyst. It converts most video formats into .mp4 for iphone and also it can help you crop out black lines to make the video full when viewed on the iphone.

But the software is not free. Use your imagination on where to get it.

Means we can use Quicktime to convert videos? Isn't that available for Pro version only?

Mediacoder is better than Videora?

I'm looking a converter which will convert videos from .avi format to MP4 which best suits iPhone's resolution.

i just tried. a normal 36MB .AVI file will be around 74MB after converted to .MP4.

EDIT : i got a msg from iTunes saying "video was not copied to iPhone 'cause it cannot be played on iPhone'. anyone have any idea?

these are the settings i used :

Converted from .AVI file
Quality : Superb
Video Codec : mpeg4
Resolution : 720x480
Framerate 30.0fps
Aspect Ratio : Auto
Audio Quality : 160kbps
