If you love spicy food , Night life , Night Market....Chiangmai Blow Ho Chi Minh City away.
Shopping will be HCMC much better while Chiangmai only got one luxury mall which is MAYA Lifestyle Shopping Center

I been these 2 city, I prefer Chiangmai more.

These 2 very old one, Macam Sungai Wang Plaza style.
MAYA more modern and high end branded stuff.

Chiang Mai (south) gate - Pa's fruit shake stall
Chang Puak (north) gate - Cowgirl's pork knuckle stall

Last time I went, I just looked for the stalls with the most people
I think it's better if you walk around on your own, and try everything you see

It's near Chiang Mai's main shopping malls like Kad Suan Kaew and Maya but far away from the night markets and main sights within the walled city
When I was there few years back, there's a place called the Harbour, but I heard it's been closed down since this year

Prepare to spend money on grab and red songthaews a lot laugh.gif

Saw some blogger put up pictures of Cherry Blossom in Kung Chang Kian (about 1.5hr out from Chiang Mai). Anyone went there before ~end Jan? Worth going? How to we get there from Wat Doi Suthep and then back to Chiangmai?

Go to Wat Phra Singh too!! One of Chiang Mai’s most captivating tourist attractions, Wat Phra Singh, is often flocked by pilgrims. The classically beautiful Lanna style temple is also popularly known as “The temple of the Lion Buddha” or “The Monastery of the Lion Buddha”. More attractions here~ http://bit.ly/2yq8Dxq
It's no doubt that Chiang Mai is also one of the place that worth a second visit.

I prefer red songthaews more than Grab / Uber.

Red Songthaews feel more like inside Thailand. Part of Thai culture that must experience it.

chiang mai chiang rai 3 days enough ?
cuz need travel 3 hour to chiang rai
recommended overnight 1 day at chiang rai?
saw the airticket, damn expensive

I stayed in Chiang Rai for 2 night, the first night basically just tour around the night market and street. Sad cos the half day gone wasted cos failed to get the green bus ticket from Chiang Mai sad.gif

2nd day, whole day trip, Wat Rong Khun,Black House, Tea farm, Karen Tribe camp, Mae Salong, Golden Triangle

3rd day morning: Book tuktuk to Singha Park for cycling, then back to Chiang Mai.

Our day tour agent and driver in Chiang Rai, not bad. We booked the join-tour package but ended only 2 of us...so we "bao" the whole van without extra charge. But we did pay the drive some extra tips to cover his loss

Try book the green bus ticket earlier...
