Got another problem...

"Walao eh, found out another defect just now.

Was listening to Oasis thru the stock headset, then my fren called, I cant lower the volume!!!! Not thru the remote and phone itself.

Aiseh.. Nokia service centre, please take note!!!"

this is a quote from Demitri from the 5800 v3 thread...

I dont really care about speaker contact problem. for me it can easily fixed. as long as theres no other major hardware defect such as pcb, screen, wlan etc.
I'll get one soon..

this a a very new phone, and fyi nokia hasn't made a touchscreen phone for quite some time.. some reports screen having permanent horizontal lines, screen becoming dim, etc..

nobody can safely say there's no major hardware defect as nobody has used it more than 2-3 months or more.

the earpiece prob also happened after a few days and for some after a few weeks using the phone..maybe in 1-2 months more there could be another prob. we can't really be sure..

Indeed. The reason why Nokia is selling at this price point is to get back some market shares(as told by one of my authorised Nokia dealer friend), also to fight AP dealers at the same time. Why would you think Nokia will risk such move that can greatly affect its reputation.

I would say this is a first for above 1k price range..

We could only say nokia is selling at this price point is to get back some market shares IF ori n97 prices are also cheaper than AP prices. we'll wait and see if nokia is really trying to get market shares back...

IMO, nokia AP phones are also NOKIA phones and as long as they sell it off it doesn't matter to them globally.

for me the price of nokia 5800 is cheap because of the country it's made in and the materials that it's made of.
made in china-cheaper costs
use a lot of plastics-cheaper costs

that's y u dont see a low priced nokia 8800. the 8800 series is build of high end materials and that's y it doesn't come cheap. main point here is that the price is cheap because of what the phone is made of.

they just want to have a great start in touchscreen device market so that they will make their presence known to the people and it will make it easier to promote n97 and later touchscreen devices that they will bring out into the market.

if the price is lower than 1400 for zitron set, worth to get the phone even as some of the users said got a lot of problem n defects, but still in warranty.  nowadays really hard to get a multi-functions touchscreen phone wif tat price smile.gif

if prices reach 1.5k better get n85 or n95 8gb

if even at 1.4k or rm13xx better get n79.

functions wise and durability wise, those phones are better.

camera wise, even though it's Carl Zeiss, 5610XM camera is said to be a bit better.
if comparing 3MP carl zeiss optics, n73 and 6500c is much better in picture and video quality.

video capture wise, 5800 records very grainy/poor videos in low light or indoor conditions. even when recording in a room with lights on.

the only main attraction for the 5800 is the touchscreen, but once u tried an iPhone, you'll know that 5800 is not up to par. hence the low price
