Hi All,

my laptop currently is facing this problem which the account is lockout, and because of this the windows services such as DHCP Client, Windows firewalls, etc fail to start.

I try to restart the services in the "Windows Services", but it state error that is the account is lockout, and services fails.

i don't know how it happen... I can't connect to the internet or any network...

My Question is this, as this is a personal pc, im using the Administrator account... so how do i unlock this "Account Lockout" problem? Anyone have encounter this problem before? I only use Vista recently (1 1/2 months ago), and i'm still not good at the admin tool part... Can anyone help?

** I have ask my frends about this problem, they told me to format the hardisk. But i read it at the Microsoft knowledge base.. it states that the Administrator will be able to unlock this problem. So i will like to try it out...
How do i unlock this problem with an admin login?

Thanks

Hi WK,

These services rely on an automatically managed system or network account.

Please do this.

Clear your event viewer's system part logs (run ---> eventvwr). Now, go to services (run --> services.msc) and now start the service which previously fails. Please record down the errors now you start to see in the System tab of the event viewer and post a reply here..A screen cap would be the best.

hi sanjay,

i run the eventvwr... and i encounter an error

"Event Log Service is unavailable. Verify that the service is running"

When i go to services.msc to run the Event Log Service, there is an error

"Service fail due to the dependency and/or associates services fail"

-----

i went to "safe mode" and even try to repair the computer from F8, but still not able to fix this problem.

Basically, i still can use the pc, but i can't go to the internet.. the network is disable automatically (by something in Vista)... most of the network services like DHCP Client is not started. Even the "Help and Support" fail.

I try to restore to the point where my pc settings is running normal (which was before Sunday - the day it happens), but either restore fails, or the problem still exist.

When i move my mouse cursor to the local area connection, an error was shown
"Connection Status: Unknown

Dependency and/or associates services fail"

i also try ipconfig, and it shows that the network is "Media disconnected"

-------------

When i was in "safe mode", i went to the admin tools, and there was no "Local Policy Services".... I read at the MS Tech site, that i can actually reset the "lockout" by going to the "Accounts Lockout Policy" at Local Policy Services, but unfortunately, the "Local Policy Services" are not there.

======

Any other ways?

Thank you

Hi there:

Check to ensure the following services are running. If not try to start them. If they fail, let us know the error that windows is producing.

Network Connections
Network Location Awareness (NLA)
Plug and Play
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Remote Access Connection Manager
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Telephony )

Seem like some core drivers are broken. Lets try to "reset" stuff ...

Click start:all programs:accessories: <right click> command prompt, there's a menu that will appear, click on Run As Administrator.

If you are admin equivalent you will start the command prompt.

Now at the command prompt dialog box, type the following:
sfc /scannow

>>--Process of scanning and repairing may take some time, follow closely the screen and write down anything that looks interesting.

If that above fails, reinstall SP1. smile.gif

Cheers!

thanks... sanjay.. actually i did try to start all the above services that you mention but all fail.

i sent to the shop since got warranty... and found out that im not the only person facing this problem... this problem exist when user download the windows update latest patch (security)... this patch which was released for Vista can make the pc slow, and the files go corrupted...

So any users using Vista Home Edition, please be careful when you do updates for your Vista... especially the security patch.. instead of improve performance, the patch will makes your Vista go haywire..

they did a repair Vista... and now my laptop is back to normal.. smile.gif
