QUOTE(mugiwarabai @ Jan 7 2009, 09:34 PM) Really?? Yes. Absolutely yes. then, there's no reason i wont buy this hone anymore. pana, i hope u can post on how to upgrade the fw. all forumers might need it badly btw, wat screwdriver u used? Anyway the firmware upgrade procedures are simple but unique. Unique in the sense, it is not the usual Nokia Software Updater. I think it is a firmware flasher utility all Nokia Service Center uses. I can post the procedures for Pana to post here. I'll write to her tomorrow. The screwdriver used is a mini flat one, the ones you use for tightening your spectacles and mini screws. NO screwing is required, you just use the flat tip to flip the speaker off its holder. Thats it. |

Proudly 5800 Owners please help me out,
I'm getting this phone on hand on this coming Friday so I really need to know what should I do when got this phone, 1. Put on screen protector 2. Charge for 8 hours 3. Should I really need to do a soft reset first? 4. Woola, test kaw kaw with the features. PS: As i know the soft reset will remove all the files that in the phone memory and if wont affect the memory card right? Another thing, the default applications such as dictionary will be automatically reinstall back right? |

Note: due to my 'maybe' harsh opening the cover (eventhough i use the spectrum) got like jagged edge on the middle cover (just imagine u gigit penutup pen, then got some kind of teeth marks on it) just a bit, here & there P/S those who never try this method yet, pls do it carefully (starting to regret) This post has been edited by blazed: Jan 7 2009, 09:49 PM |

QUOTE(reevephon @ Jan 7 2009, 09:46 PM) Proudly 5800 Owners please help me out, Most of the contents are loaded in the 8GB micro-SD card. The contents in the phone can be restored from the ROM storage. Just remove the card when you do a soft reset. Actually there's no need to do any soft reset. When you newly receive the phone and activate it, it'll initiate the ROM which is like new. It should as good as a new hard reset.I'm getting this phone on hand on this coming Friday so I really need to know what should I do when got this phone, 1. Put on screen protector 2. Actually we shouldn't try our self, as the Nokia already noticed this problem and they are getting the new earpiece, so you can simply drop by to the nearest NCC to request them to do for you with no charge.

QUOTE(panasonic88 @ Jan 7 2009, 09:04 PM) yo Cfyong2020, i have successfully removed that naughty MSN Messenger (which doesn't work) with the help of the Y-Browser. What version of Y-broswer can use on tube?have you figure out how to do it? - Install Y-Browser - Open up Y-Browser > E drive > Others > MSN Messenger > Option > File > Delete - Lastly, go to Settings > Application Manager > Installed apps > Remove that MSN Messenger, once again now the icon is gone and the MSN Messenger software is completely removed. p/s: by the way, i bet you must have formatted your phone this afternoon, lol. |

QUOTE(blazed @ Jan 7 2009, 09:47 PM) guys, i've also solved my earpiece problem..tried the method in page 1 (nice job pana!!) i have to bend the contacts outwards & walla no problem anymore.. Don't be sad. I actually coated the plectrum with a cellophane tape to dampen the surface. When pressure is applied, the casing will 'eat' into the tape first. This will prevent the plectrum from scraping the casing in case things give way. Note: due to my 'maybe' harsh opening the cover (eventhough i use the spectrum) got like jagged edge on the middle cover (just imagine u gigit penutup pen, then got some kind of teeth marks on it) just a bit, here & there P/S those who never try this method yet, pls do it carefully (starting to regret) Ya, you should bend the contacts outward. Cause the contact pads on the PCB correspond to each terminal of the speaker. The terminal bumps of the speaker are meant to touch on that. One problem with the speaker terminals is that it is latched into the speaker. Because of this, the movement of the terminal is restricted and do not provide maximum contact to the PCB. I took the terminals out of the latch so it will be floating outward freely. When you play the speaker back into the retainer, it will now touch on the contact pad of the PCB. If you are concern that contact to the PCB will deteriorate you can put in additional foam to press on the speaker when you assemble back the casing. |

So far I have not encounter this problem, but maybe because I've not installed anything yet. |
