winrar is the best in terms of compression and SFX creation ...

of course 7-zip is the best, but it's not user friendly for beginner ...

most don't even now how to fully utilize 7-zip's capability wink.gif

those files in 1GB are highly compressible, thus with compression it's able to be compressed down to 200MB ...

in my case, i compress my Outlook 2007 PST (~750MB) --> ~100MB only ... sweet biggrin.gif

I'd recommend WinRAR to compress/archive your files. Please remember that files/folders that've already been compressed/archived can't be re-compressed/re-archived. They can only be un-compressed/un-archived. Hope you understand my point.

Presenting SFXMaker

I've been testing this for quite some time, it's a GUI interface that lets you create self-extracting archives using 7-Zip.

I'm not using it anymore because it doesn't support advanced compression switches (used in command-line).
