my tailor is actually like my doctor, when my clothes feel ill-fitting, i consult my tailor.. the fact is actually clothes off-the-rack are made to fit a mannequin, and every person's body is shaped differently..

im not sure if it is just me (which is why i started this poll), but i have altered practically every clothing article from t-shirts, polo-t's, short pants, jeans, khakis, dress shirts, and sportsjackets..

you are welcomed to give further explanation on your decision..

hi jind86, i would like to alter some of my shirts and polo T but I have no clue which tailor should i look for. would you mind sharing your tailor with me?

yeah sure no problem, my tailor is Ruth's at KLCC, it is on the ground floor below the Louis Vuitton store.. you can look for Ruth herself, or if not look for her son Vincent.. the price is a little more than regular tailor stores but they have served me well.. ALWAYS ALWAYS try on your clothes after the alterations have been done, and if for example you feel that the pant/shirt length is not short enough etc, do let them know so they can redo it, they wont double charge..

Hi jind86. thanks for the info. it is very much appreciated.

i shall pay them a visit this weekend.

what about the collar for the dress shirt, do you think it can be altered to 1/2" smaller?

just wanted to echo a good word about Ron at the Curve here.

a mutual friend of Ron and I recommended Ron sometime back and i got around to making a shirt and a pair of chinos about 2 mths back. in short, i like his work and the prices are reasonable. would not mind using Ron again in future.
*
does Ron furnish any alteration job?

Nah, I won't. No demand.

But I might if you all call me Godmj/Lordmj for long enough.

i trust that this new thread of yours will gain more views that the current one which clocked at 1500 odds.

i don't contribute much to this thread i'll just leave that to the regulars here, anyway, if it pleases you, Lordmj, could we please have your mercy to initiate a sticky thread on "so you want to get a dress shirt made" in near future? (man, i sounded like a devotee now)

find a different employer

but uniforms are often limited to the polo. you can still wear ostentatious pants and shoes and socks.
*
the said uniform is a short sleeved shirt ( shocking.gif !!!). thank god there is still casual friday but i can't be putting on dress shirt with cufflinks, can i?

is your company hiring?

I have a number of limited edition clothing (mostly shirts) and raw denims (surprisingly not many people in Msia knows what this is laugh.gif ) that I need shortened/tightened. For example, I have a limited edition Tommy Hilfiger denim shirt that's way too long and would require the bottom badge to be removed, subsequently the shirt would need to be shortened, and the badge sewn back onto the shirt. The thread pattern must align.

Any tailor with high attention to detail that you would recommend? I am located around Jalan Klang Lama but I am willing to travel within reasonable distance should the tailor be really worthwhile of my time.

It doesn't look so good as a shirt. Uniqlo has two shades of houndstooth in linen and I saw a young guy wearing it once on the street. Would be great as short pants though.

I received the cloth. It's a mid grey, and 10oz/sq yard. I though I knew all along what 10oz cloth was, but i was overwhelmed by how heavy, how thick, how firm this cloth is. None of the bounciness and liveliness of Super 150's. Just dead, heavy cloth. It says superfine on the selvedge, and i can feel that the entire wool from the sheep was used. very traditional stuff. i don't think anybody makes cloth like this anymore. it doesn't feel luxurious. it feels like 70's Britain, with old draughty windows, old cast iron boilers for central heating, mini cooper, etc.

Added on July 10, 2011, 12:43 pmHuhu, the tom ford cloth is coming. next level stuff.

Darn all these while I thought you are a brand hater!
