hmm something i saw on kinslager's facebook page

" It's BACK! Special Offer for Young Professionals :
Tailor-made 2 piece Suit (Mixed Wool) + Shirt / Blouse (2-ply Cotton) +
Tie / Scarf (Silk) = RM 780 nett. Offer ends 15th May 2010."

i guess worth trying if u're just looking for something other than your typical G2000 with a lower budget.

Of course. In Egypt towards the end of that civilization they started stuffing mummies with rubbish -- chicken bones, etc. -- instead of the expensive stuff. Also, if the mummy was too tall to fit the coffin they would hack the legs and use that as stuffing.

if its more polyester than wool, it should be cheaper than this. if it has more wool than poly, or pure wool, ALT will do it for RM500. This comes with working cuffs and premium lining (the sort Bespokeded charges RM150 for) and padded lapels. If he likes you, you may even get half lining, and if you are me you will even get something else i won't say. Essentially, almost the whole damn works. for rm500.

I'm confused, if he likes me i get half lining. If he doesn't like me, I don't get any lining for rm500? I got my own lining too btw.
My hometown tailor really doesn't say anything, even when asked he only replies to about half the questions. Maybe its the hearing aid. Anyway, I'll try to get more details when I pick up my shirt in 2 weeks time.

If he doesn't like you, you get full lining. Half lining is several hours more work.

When you are there next, look at the suits awaiting collection. Not display suits, but suits with real customers, who will pick them up in a few days. Find something in your size and try it on. Take well-lit pics and post here.

Added on April 7, 2010, 12:18 amRM 550 is too much for a malaccan tailor. ask if he will do it for rm400.

Added on April 7, 2010, 12:22 amalso see if he cuts any cloth. if you see him drafting a suit on cloth in his premises, that pretty good. if not, ask him if he sends it to KL to be made. if he says yes that is not good.

Do tailors allow you to try on other peoples jackets??and taking pictures of it?

I'm quite sure he makes the suits himself. While I was there I saw suiting fabric on his huge table with chalk lines, largest pair of scissors I've seen to date, a pillars worth of what looks like white fusing, and 2 indian men in the back sewing stuff.

Sounds good. At least you know you're dealing with a real tailor, not some shop proprietor. Wish you lots of luck.

Don't be timid. If you want anything just ask like you're entitled to it. Not just with tailors, but with life in general.
