I'm going to Singapore and one of my friend said there some year end sales for suit cloths.

Question is. How much should I buy for a two piece suit? Like 2m x 2m? I've tailored some of my suits but never have I asked my tailor before how much cloth he used.

Depend on the fabric, for plain, 3.5m should be enough, unless if you are super tall or super big....buy a little bit more if it have stripes or checkered.. if the price really cheap, buy and additional 1.5m for an additional trousers...rule of thumb is 2m for the coat, 1.5m for trousers..

Ahh.. Thanks. That explains. I'm about 175cm tall. So for a 2 piece suit, I guess 4m should be OK right?

Hi guys,

Just wanna share photos from my first fitting for a suit with Ah Loke Tailor. It's a half canvassed jacket and the grey suit fabric is from VBC super 120's. Managed to include 2 shirts from Soktas cloth as well with this order. This is actually my 1st time trying out ALT, and I've had my measurement taken around 2 weeks ago. In overall, I think ALT can make the jacket a little bit slimmer as I think it was a bit too roomy (he did that to accommodate my tummy actually). Also asked him to shorten the jacket front a bit, he mentioned the back's length was okay and I agreed with him. Other alterations are a higher armhole, to clean up the back of the jacket as I think the fabric was bunching a bit, and to slim down the pants a little as it was just too loose. I was lucky this time as Mr. Loke is there himself today (he took these 2 photos, and he was not around during the measurement and his assistant did that). My next and maybe last fitting will be 2 weeks from now, fingers crossed I can get a better fit from today. In overall, 1st experience fitting with ALT was okay, and he did propose some adjustments himself regarding the fit.

Below is another suit fitting which I've done with Jeremy Tok last month. Navy suit with full canvassed jacket, and I really like the fit of the jacket from the first fitting. There'll be minor alterations to the jacket and pants, but the waiting time is 3 months for this as its full canvassed, and expecting it to be ready by end of January.

If you have any recommendations or feedback which I can share with ALT or Jeremy, I would be more than happy to read about it. Still new in all these custom made suit things, quite a bit to learn.

Budget of around 100 per piece will be quite hard to get a custom shirt. Cheaper tailors I've tried in Amcorp Mall in PJ is almost 200, and the fabric, fit and tailoring is not that great.

Btw, I find the sleeve length of Uniqlo shirts to be really great for Asian built. Perhaps you can try them if you haven't. And they go quite cheap on their frequent sales.
