If you willing to spend money to maintain the body paint, then go ahead. If not use the money for performance instead.

Not cheap to maintain body paint, a lot of work and time.

If you have the time....

pearl white where got hard to mentain

the only thing u need to worry is peoples itchy hand that purposely scratch the car.

thats the only thing i guess u gotta be worried off.

and touch up is a little tricky....pearl color depends on the mixture...so if anything best go back to the shop u got it from

for pearl paint..is a bit hard to do some DIY touch up when u got some small little stone chips..your front part mostly will have lots of them..for normal paint..u can just go and get those DIY touch up paint..for pearl..cannot..

why don't just take those normal paint with some golden or sliver or rainbow flakes on it??touch up will be much more easier..

and actually all the paint to me..if u are into body..all paint color..no matter pearl or matt or normal ones..u still got to take care of it..wax it..polish it..clean it..

some are also suggesting that, the pearl white will turn yellowish thru time....is that true?....

i believe , ALL paints will have some abnormal effect when u touch up(i.e not smooth color transition across the car)....but on pearl, it may b abit more obvious...

So, if i actually go back to the same guy who painted my car...and he gets the mixture right...it shud be ok rite?

thank u so much guys for ur input...appreciate it alot!!

i have a habit of washing the the car atleast once a week....if it rains, i will atleast wash the dirt with water ....i guess this shud be sufficient to maintain it?...

im just scared, once i spend so much money on nice paint...after 2 years it looks rubbish...that will be a pain....

if you do not know how to detail your car, then its better to remain on the stock paint, else, its just a waste of time and money a couple of months down the road...

don't know how is not a problem..at least u still can learn or ask ppl to do the detail for your car..problem is u are lazy and not that caring person..then ur paint job will be wasted..

Gold dust paint is hard to maintain & it looks dusty on the surface of black colour or otherwise black hood.

if u insist then don't over do it like those ah beng.

yup...classic....well, thats my point bro....i wanna have a different color that is abit unique. I guess im too young to restore a classic look...heheh..i just wanna make sure inside, the rust n all are settled first. Personally, wanting to go for the original AMG look. Already on 16inch rollers....not easy to find ori rims for this car. Also plan to put EFI the car with MegaSquirt....eliminate the problem of fuel distributor in the car...coz i cant imagine puttin a jap engine into this car.

maybe after few year, will put back all the ori things on the car...still have the 14inch rims with hubcaps!!....

will post some pics once done with bodyshop...now super dusty la the car....so saddd.....

well..unique color doesn't mean have to be pearl white color..

to me the unique part is not the car color..is how the finishing of the paint job..if u paint pearl white..but the finishing suxs..not nice already..

classic car must always have super mirror finishing that can even see ur own face..that is classic unique color..

also i dun think age is a problem to restore a classic..me also young..restore my beetle and now that's my daily drive.. laugh.gif
