Hi guys, I just my Jacky Cheung Blu-ray from Play-Asia and it wouldn't play on my PS3..I get a black screen instead.. Has it got something to do with the fact that the disc is PAL and my PS3 is Jap/NTSC?
Any ideas or I just bought a lemon? Arghhh... Thx.

The cover says Region A,B & C and my PS3 is region A. Only problem I can think of its the disc being PAL but the info on Play-asia says its NTSC :
----------------- Original Name Release Date Jan 22, 2009 Artist Jacky Cheung Screen Format Wide Screen Video Format NTSC Audio Dolby Digital Language Cantonese Subtitles Chinese Genre Karaoke Version Hong Kong PAX-Code PAX0002565368 Item Code 602517975712
---------- This is getting on my nerves..

So what could be the problem? It clearly states PAL and its not a pirated blu-ray either.. Anyone managed to play the Blu-ray on the PS3?

Tried setting the PS3 to play ONLY in 720p, 1080i & 1080p. All no go. Pretty much confirmed I have a lemon.
Lets see what's Play-Asia's reply tomorrow. I hope they don't ask me to pay to send the disc back to them or I'll give them a piece of my mind.

Panasonic PY800 Plasma. FullHD. HDMI. Tried HDMI to both receiver and directly to the TV. Same results. No audio, no video
I have 2 other Samsung LCDs but they're somewhere else in the house..Guess if I don't hear anything from Play-asia, I'll move my PS3 to see if I get any display out of them.. but I doubt so.
ar188 : Sure I can let u try on your powderful HTPC . LOL

I believe I got a faulty disc cause htkaki copy has no problems. No scratches on the disc either. I've passed it to my colleague and he'll try it out on his PS3 tonight.. but in the mean time, I've told Playasia that it won't play on the "multiple" PS3s that I've tried.. QUOTE(danmooncake @ Feb 6 2009, 12:30 PM) welwitchia: Since you're reported that you're not getting any audio either, I think this may be a disc issue. It is rare to get bad BD disc but it does happen. BD by design is scratch resistant but just wondering if did you see any scratch on the data side of the BD disc? If it is really a PAL issue, I don't think Play-Asia can do anything.. but they might ask you to send it back for refund or exchange. Maybe you need to send this disc to a buddy of yours who has a BD player or a PS3 and see if it works on their system or not.

Brought my Jacky Cheung Blu-ray to Midvalley Megamall Sony yesterday and true enough, the copy that I had won't play on the BDP-S300 and S350. Error Message : Format not supported. LOL..
Also tried it on one of the game shop's PS3 and still no go. The funny part is, the disc plays ok on my friends PS3 (Malaysian launch unit).
I've sent it back to Play-asia. I think I've done enough to prove that its a dud copy.

Look what Play-Asia said regarding my Jacky Cheung Blu-ray QUOTE Dear Mark,
Thank you for contacting Play-Asia.com.
I am sorry for delay as the parcel just came and I have tested it immediately.
It is indeed defective would you like us to send you a new DVD or give you a full refund back to your credit card or as store credit?
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Best regards,
Arfat Play-Asia.com What a hassle, now I have to wait another week to get a replacement. Oh well, as least they're replacing it.
