My one BluRay wish for 2009:

All BluRay prices for new titles releases from Hollywood are now under US$20 max (or same price as DVDs) drool.gif

congrats on v10.  hoping blu-ray prices slightly cheaper this year.
*
Slightly cheaper??... well I wish for them to match price for the DVDs and perhaps DVDs should go the way of the VCDs..
and.. of course.. we want cheaper BD players for everyone so that we can have massive adoption!

My wish list for BluRay titles this year (if they are willing to release it)

- Lord of Rings Extended Version Trilogy
- Star Wars (all 6 episodes) - come Lucas, you can do it!!
- All the previous Star Trek movies, together with the upcoming Star Trek movie in June.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'Transporter 3' to Blu-ray on March 10th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Third in the popular action series, the film stars Jason Statham as a driver of mysterious cargo to dangerous locations. No technical specs or special features have been announced at this time.
*
Is that direct to video? I don't think I saw the ads for Transporter 3 anywhere in cinema last year.

they r extremely sensitive to the word UNRATED on any movie...girl there say Underworld got frontal shots but still can pass... brows.gif i think i will watch after this too  thumbup.gif

they were watching kill bill 1 when i left...
*
Interesting...

What would happen if they do find some elements of frontal nudity, horror or even strong bloody violence (eg. Kill Bill 1 & 2) in some UNRATED or even R rated films? How do they snip out those unwanted segment and censor them (or can they) without destroying the original BD disc? If Speedy/HVN can import them, I think those shouldn't be a problem.

They probably will just ban/confiscate those fall into their list of titles of undesirables that are considered
outright PORN (example: Pirates 2 Stagnetti's Revenge). brows.gif

OK, so here's the deal : I notice most of you guys buy from Amazon.com. Let's just say I want to buy the Intercooler (heck, maybe even a Blu-Ray movie) for my PS3,

I wonder how to calculate the price in RM ? x3.4 ? Also, what other costs will I incur ? How long does it take to arrive ? What is with the 1-day shipping ?
*
You pay in USD. Whatever the conversion rate is really up to your credit card bank, not Amazon.

The shipping costs are listed in the Help->Shipping & Delivery->Shipping Rates and Times for Asia Pacific

All international shipping choices are:
Standard - (lowest rate) - takes anywhere between 17 days to 31 days (standard US mail).
Expedited Shipping (higher than Standard) - takes anywhere between 12 to 19 days (eg. US Global Priority Mail).
Priority Courier (most expensive) - takes anywhere between 2 to 4 days (eg. FedEx or US Express Mail).

1-Day Shipping IS NOT for residents outside US.

Btw, why some DVD's AQ is better than BD's lossless codecs? Of course, BD's AQ trumped DVD most of the time. Anyone can answer this?

BTW, where is the best deal get RedCliff BD?

YesAsia seems to carry but man.. that's still over US$40.. Ouch! cry.gif

I just don't feel right coz one of my bluray title is Underworld: Unrated... someone in dis forum came across an officer from Finas going thru this title wor..   shocking.gif  hmm.gif Hopefully its not mine
*
Say.. does Underworld Unrated BD have the Extended Cut scenes from the 2-discs version of DVD?

Fat chance.. the reason is because Hollywood movie studios won't use them because they offer
no protection against piracy.

Thanks for the info.
I ever got taxed few years back but didn't know that there is a limit that they cannot tax.

Probably the kastam in my state is just stupid.  rclxub.gif
*
Yes, there is a limit..just make sure, overall value including shipping MUST NOT exceed RM500. This is a 'Must Know'
general knowledge for those who thinking of importing movies into Malaysia. Personally, I think it sucks if it include shipping cost...but that's how they (Kastam) determines the cost of any imported package for personal use.

Standard shipping delivery from US to M'sia normally will take around 10-14 days if no hiccups like festive season delay or others. The order received yesterday took about 3 weeks & 2 days to arrive (X'mas traffic). The longest I've to wait was 7 weeks!!  doh.gif  But after I received the parcel finally, I dropped them an email & they gave me a USD$10 voucher to use on my next order (dat is sooo good, worth the wait!)

Reliable ah? Hmmm.... from there - YES, here.... only our Kastam/Pos can answer dat  nod.gif

Only 1 movie? Definitely kena "kebas" one... Ask for a replacement one la if you still want the same title. Usually for the replacement order, they will use the faster expedited shipping.

How about shipping cost.. are their rates better than Amazon?

Stay away from this movie.. if wanna watch, just get the DVD version. Not worth the BD media at all.

Gosh.. blush.gif JSDVD web site is not very discreet... those Adult only titles splash on your face and they lump them together with the mainstream titles. Be careful while shopping on this site esp. when using your office computers. tongue.gif

Just placed order for BoB. My first order from Amazon US. So far only bought BD from Amazon UK. Estimated ~28 days to arrive. Why I feel it takes more time to deliver compare to UK. Is it true?

Order Placed: January 20, 2009
Order Total: $43.97

Shipment #1: Not Yet Shipped
Shipping estimate: January 21, 2009
Delivery estimate: February 17, 2009 - March 9, 2009 (More about estimates)
*
There is a backorder on BOB BD version because of the price (demand more than supply), hence that's why Amazon takes much longer to fulfill even for US customers. Don't worry.. it will arrive. Meanwhile, just watch another movie while you're waiting.

All these talks abt Blu Ray reaching V11 now but the thing is ppl in MSIA still watch blu ray in PS3s which is really a turn off and also PC shops in Lowyat got Blu Ray Burners but not Blu Ray Readers I mean why in their crazy mind they imported blu ray writers at RM 1200 and not blu ray readers???
only one blu ray reader which is liteon selling at RM 550 and that liteon model  received very bad reviews

Who writes Blu Ray in MSIA anyway external HDD are much cost effective and cheaper
Any other Brands of Blu Ray Rom Drive selling here? I dont think so I really want to Buy LG Blu Ray /HD DVD Rom  Drive at value Price RM 400 max
does anybody know any source?
*
BluRay Readers? hmm.gif For a moment, I thought you're talking about for the BD-ROM for computer.

It seems that you are pissed because the PS3 is a BluRay Player as well as a game machine?
Well, the PS3 is an entertainment machine, and it is the best value right now for those who wants more than just a player.

If you're want under RM400 player now because you're cheap ass shopper, you can also look for those older
profile 1.0 (or 1st gen) players (or used ones) which many people are dumping now. Just don't regret later because you want it cheap be'coz like they said.. you'll get what you paid for. tongue.gif

Or you can just be patient.. it won't be long before you'll see a shipload of BD cheap players coming to Malaysia shore because global prices have come down and the US$99 BD players (already in US) with new licensing scheme from the BD group, it is much more affordable now. Again, be aware.. these aren't your Sony or Onkyo or Oppo branded ones..
they are no-frills, non-name brand (Made-In-China, of course).. and your distance may vary.

buy at jsdvd.com

But it's expansive there, and IMO sort of cheating consumer abit as it won't ask u and tell u the price for shipping until after you pay for ur BD. so be sure to read the FAQ properly.

There got loads of rare file that you can't find at amazon.

In that case, better go 'em at YesAsia.com smile.gif

Hualu Blu-ray Players Released in China

Posted December 29, 2008 08:23 AM by Josh Dreuth

Panasonic China Hualu Panasonic (a joint venture between China Hualu and Panasonic) have release three Blu-ray players for the Chinese market. The Hualu BDP0801 ($292) and BDP0810 ($336) are both BonusView players, while the BDP0821 ($365) supports BD-Live. No other technical specs are known about the players at this time.

The players represent Blu-ray in what can better be described as a playground scrap between the internationally known high definition format and the China-based CBHD. Currently, no major manufacturers or studios are supporting that format, and the introduction of these Hualu players is expected to start the penetration of the Blu-ray format in that region.

What do you think of this 'China-based CBHD'?
Do we really need this if there are no major studios supporting it?
Perhaps only viewing Chinese made films?

Tried setting the PS3 to play ONLY in 720p, 1080i & 1080p. All no go. Pretty much confirmed I have a lemon.

Lets see what's Play-Asia's reply tomorrow. I hope they don't ask me to pay to send the disc back to them or I'll give them a piece of my mind.

welwitchia:

Can you tell us more about the TV display that you have?

Model? LCD or Plasma? Full HD capability?
Are you using HDMI or COMPONENT input on the TV?
Did you hear any audio?

Do you have another TV that you can try this one?

oh wait, Megatron, where are u getting IP Man from?
*
welwitchia:

Since you're reported that you're not getting any audio either, I think this may be a disc issue.

It is rare to get bad BD disc but it does happen. BD by design is scratch resistant but just wondering if did you see any scratch on the data side of the BD disc?

If it is really a PAL issue, I don't think Play-Asia can do anything.. but they might ask you to send it back for refund or exchange.
Maybe you need to send this disc to a buddy of yours who has a BD player or a PS3 and see if it works on their system or not.
