I am getting the 36bit data from BD playback..is this a good thing??

mpyw,

I believe if u r using HDMI 1.3b capable AVR the Kuro will display 36bit. So its correct. If you were using a HDMI 1.1, I believe you would not be able to see 36bit on the Kuro. On my Onkyo PS3 home menu and BDs play at 36bit. I think your previous AVR was a lower spec HDMI and I believe it might have only shown 24bit colour or nothing at all.(not 30bit as earlier :EDIT).

So, whether you have a 100Hz/120Hz/200Hz feature or not on your LCD TV is not critical as long as you have 1080/24fps, am I right to assume? The AMP actually causes judder rather than reduce it? Sorry, this is all quite technical to me and I have always thought that 100Hz and above is important to reduce the judder.

This is correct. Having a display that is capable of accepting 1080p/24fps is important. The AMP will probably cause judder for BD or 24Hz but a lot of people might not even realise it or can live with it. 100Hz and above is only important for PAL material that is in 50Hz so that for fast moving sports action you see a more natural picture. 100Hz is absolutely critical if you are watching football from Astro, else the motion will look weird.

It is another thing if you like it that the 24Hfps is reproduced at such high scan rates ie, 120/200Hz.

To all those who have received and viewed Bourne Trilogy, how is the PQ and AQ? Unfortunately, the price increased to USD75 in Amazon...not dropped.

This thread has slowed down quite a bit in the last week or two. I wonder if most of the regulars are slowing down due to the current USD exchange rate and the economy situation...

Quantum of Solace BD review is out.

QoS Blu Ray.com review

UK buyers beware this is region locked! So, unless you have a region free player, you need to get the R1 from US.

Bourne Trilogy USD59.99 at FamilyVideo.com. I believe Amazon might follow suit shortly...Decent price I believe for those who are yet to get the trilogy.

Amazon could be desperate for sales due to the hard hit domestic market. But, the current forex doesnt do justice to us, peasants too.

Terminator 2... tempting  hmm.gif

Terminator 2 has a new re-release, I presume with a higher bitrate. You might want to wait for that.
